My account activation and password reset emails are taking in excess or 5 minutes to reach the inbox. This is not a big issue with notification emails but for the account activation and password reset emails I must have those emails reach the inboxes immediately. Any fixes or suggestions? I am using Godaddy shared linux wordpress hosting, if that matters at all.

I don’t think that is a theme issue, it seems to be a server related, you can try this plugin : https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-mail-smtp/ you can put gmail server to see of the mail arrives on you inbox more faster.
Anyways you can ask your hosting provide about this.Cheers
