Hiya,
I am planning to use the theme as a non-dating site. I have tried to customize the home page search form so that different member types can find each other based on role and interests.
Example:
I am a: (Student, Teacher, Assistant)
Looking for: (Students, teachers, assistants)
Interested in: (Science, Math, Literacy, etc.)When I try to enable this however, I am getting inconsistent results from the query.
The first two fields are drop down select type. The third field is a multi-select.
I have tried it with the matching turned on and off. And I am not getting expected results. I have added a student and a teacher, both interested in Science and Math. But I when I search as a student looking for a student interested in Math, I get zero results.
When I search as a student looking for a teacher interested in Math, I get zero results.
When I search as a teacher looking for a student interested in Science, I get zero results.
When I search as a teacher looking for a teacher interested in Science, I get zero results.I have also tried removing the “I am” part of the query and just searching based on “looking for” and “interested in” but that nets zero results as well.
When I enable Matching and search with the query, I am a teacher interested in Science I will get a teacher as a results. I would be happy if I got all member types, teachers, students, and assistants. But just getting other teachers doesn’t fit my needs.
PS. I’ve registered on your support forum but I cannot see the button to add a new topic anywhere.
Thanks in advance,

August 9, 2013 at 15:47 #1229SQadminKeymasterHi,
You need to set the matching fields with “I am a” and “Looking for” fields in order the search to work correctly.
This is required because If I select Looking for “Student” I want the search to return users that have selected “Student” in the “I am a” field, not in the “Looking for” field. The search should work fine. If you can’t figure it out give us am email with your website and some access to it at themesupport@seventhqueen.com

I have a follow up question. Can you search a field/match against a multi-select check box field or does the matching only work with drop-down (single) select options?
In my example above, a person can be a student, teacher and an assistant. And they can have multiple interests. I’d like to be able to search on a “I am” and the “Interested in” fields which can have more than one entry.
Thanks for your stellar support.

August 10, 2013 at 14:36 #1255SQadminKeymasterHello,
The form styling doesn’t allow to set multiple values in the select.
We can guide you on allowing multiple select but the form won’t be so stylish.
Let me know if you want that .Hi there!!! Help others from the community and mark any reply as solution if it solved your question. Mark as a solutionNovember 9, 2013 at 01:23 #6305SQadminKeymasterStarting with 2.2, multiselect is allowed
