Set up notifications

Hi guys,

In our buddypress community built with your awesome theme we would like to be able to set up the notifications users receive in their Alive News top menu item. Now users do not get any notification related to mentions in the wall or replies to their comments. Those notifications do not show in the alive news I mentioned above.

Is there any way to choose if they receive those notifications on the top bar?
