The new version has crashed my site!

My website, elixirconsulting.com.au was built a few years ago now by a developer who purchased the Kleo theme and built the site for me…they included the cost of the theme on their bill to me but never provided me with the file itself directly.

Things worked great for a year or so and then the developer just disappeared and wouldn’t return any emails…then our site started to get hacked all the time. I then learnt of the importance of keeping plugins and themes up to date!

I have now signed on with WPCurve to run updates and do fixes for us and boy do we have a lot that has needed fixing this week! To be honest it has been the week from hell for us – our site was initially hacked so that people were redirected to porn sites and there was Malware installed. The site was then cleaned and all inactive plugins were deleted and all updates were run.

Then we lost the menu bar across the top of the page, so WPCurve suggested I buy a new copy of the Kleo theme and they would install it…which I did – and then they sent me the  message I have pasted at the bottom of this ticket…so essentially right now my site doesn’t work, and I am still waiting on Google to reindex it anyway because if you google our business name you see offensive content in the search result and if you click on any of the links in google, you go to porn sites.

I can’t begin to tell you how frustrating this has been, but I am hoping that you can help me with the request from my developers, as pasted below (suffice to say I don’t even understand half the stuff that is going on!):

We tried updating the theme from version 2.4.1 to version 4.0.8. 

Because the update is very large, it is breaking your site making it worse than before. Content is not visible.

I would recommend contacting the theme developer to help you restore with a previous version 2.4.1 . Then create a staging/testing site that will be used to update and fix.
