it is possible to open RSS links to open in a new window? currently it will open on the same window as a default.

There is no option for that, but you can install and use this kind of plugin : https://wordpress.org/plugins/rss-just-better/screenshots/ that allows you to have advanced options, you can create an new sidebar in that you will add the rss widget then in dashboard page add widgetized sidebar elements and choose that sidebar
