I can’t seem to stop Buddy press spam no matter what I try so it’s of no use to me as a registration system. Is there a simple way for me to utilize the FB login without it being attached to buddy press? If not, could you guys please add this function as a simple widget?

Just curious, have you tried Wanggauard? http://wordpress.org/plugins/wangguard/ Along with many things, it allows you set questions during registration. It will randomly present the questions, making it difficult for scripts to know which question will be asked.
I’m planning on using it, but if it doesn’t work, I’d like to know.

Wow.. Thanks. That looks like a pretty tight solution. I’ve tried so many I’m a bit skeptical but I guess I could try one more. I’d still like to see a widget from the developers for an option for Facebook registration only. I wouldn’t think that would a major task for the developers considering the job they’ve already done with Kleio.

So far so good Sharmstr, I loaded the plugin yesterday and not one spam sign up yet. I opened registration a couple of days before loading the plugin you suggested and immediately was bombarded with spam. Like within ten minutes I had 20 new users that had created groups full of spam. I’ve been a full 24 hours with open registration now with no spam.

Excellent! Its amazing how fast those spammers are. I set up a staging site the other day and had two of them before I could install all my security plugins.
I probably should have mentioned this, but looks like they will eventually charge for wangguard. Honestly, its probably worth it.

No doubt.. They’re quick. So far so good though. I’ve read their site. They say you have to buy a commercial api if your a business but I don’t see any pricing. I’ve got it on a non profit site but I will definitely promote it to other clients even if it cost them if they’re using buddypress. You’re right.. it would be worth it.
