Hi all,
I (nearly) successfully migrated my site to a new domain.
Everything works as expected but i noticed i lost a lot of my theme custom settings operated via the admin console.
E.g.
- Logo disappeared
- Favicon
- Custom text on the footer
- email on the right side of the header was hidden and now it appeared.
- A custom text on the overlay contact form on the right lowe corner went to default.
I got no error on the database export and import so I wonder where all of this informations are stored.
Before I imported again the sql exported scripts i replaced all occurrencies of the old domain with the new one. So I do not understand why a lot of things went on default.
Any suggestion for future migrations?

February 20, 2017 at 20:11 #153578RaduModeratorHi,
IF the old installation it’s still online try to save theme options from wp-admin -> theme options -> import/export and then import theme settings to the new domain, if not do those again
Cheers

I read near all the tutorial about WP migration (even the official one) and no one mentioned to check for custom theme import/export options.
How I was supposed to know about it? RTFM as usual.
Very disappointing
February 27, 2017 at 17:23 #154267RaduModeratorI see,
Those should remain if you have moved the database and if you have replaced in the entire database old domain with new one… If you had the install on a staging server try to ask the hosting company to deploy back on the staging subdomain to can get back those settings.
Cheers

During the migration I lost only text strings inside the several text box in the theme settings. i.e. quick css, Contact form text and footer text widgets with html. Now everything seems ok. Next time I will be more careful.
Bye
