    Hello!

I’m using a membership plugin and it has a custom registration with the ability to add an avatar.  Without the avatar upload option, member’s registration works perfectly and the user is created in WordPress and shows up in Buddypress members’ directory.

However, when the user is allowed to upload an avatar through registration, there is an issue.  The user is created without a problem and can be seen in the users directory in WordPress with the profile picture (avatar) as it should be.  However, the member does not show up at all under the Buddypress members directory.

What is going on? I’m surprised the user is not showing up despite being created in WordPress.  The only cause seems to be the avatar/profile picture.

    Thanks!

    Hello again!

Just wanted to provide an update.

So apparently the user is now visible. After I logged with the dummy profile (newuser), it started showing up. However, one issue still remains: how come the avatar for the user is now showing up even though the avatar is present in the users directory?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

From what I know a user to can have an ‘active’ status and to be displayed in directory, should log in mininum one time to can be displayed in directory, this is now buddypres works..

But let me know if you encounter same issue using default twentyseventeen theme, if you encounter the same it means the issue can be caused by that plugin and if not let me know and we can investigate further, let me know also the plugin that you are using name.

    Cheers

    Hi Radu!

You’re right and that issue has been resolved. The moment I logged in with the test account, the user showed up in the directory.

However, one big issue still remains: Why doesn’t the avatar/profile picture show up in Buddypress when it exists in the WordPress user directory?

    Thanks

    Hi again,

Did you have “played” with the options form wp-admin -> settings -> discussion ?

Check the options form there, with default theme it’s the same ?

    Cheers

    Hi Radu!

Thank you for the suggestion. Unfortunately, that had no affect. So, you should know that I’m not using Buddypress registration. I’m using a Membership plugin that syncs with Buddypress. But it turns that it doesn’t syn the profile photo with Buddypress.

After researching, it turns out that this is a common problem: Plugins interact with WordPress user profiles just fine but fail to do so on some level with Buddypress.

After searching on the web, it turns out that one needs to use “bp_core_fetch_avatar” to make this work. Can you help in this regard? How can I pull Profile picture from WordPress user profile and make it Buddypress Member profile photo?

    Your help will be appreciated!

    Hi again

Let me know if this problem ( avatar syncing ) it’s encountered even if you are using twenty seventeen (default wp theme) if yes it means that the Membership plugin should made a fix for BuddyPress integration, if this not happen with the default theme but with KLEO let me know and provide admin credentials + FTP

    Cheers
