Is there any way to cache Gravatars? I tried these three plugins, but no one does not do it – tested with Google Page Speed, issue also on browser caching.
FV Gravatar Cache
NIX Gravatar Cache
Harrys Gravatar Cache

Cheers

– Image compression
– Remove query strings from static resources
– Leverage browser cachingHard to understand, how much it affects the real speed.
Gravatar replacement with local images something improve? It offes some plug-ins –

The gravatar URL it’s not a resource that wp install can control it’s a remote resource, I haven’t tested that plugins but you gave give a try

Improve PageSpeed Insights and Gtmetrix results by almost 20 points!!
But one problem – not displaying avatar at the top of the site (my Profile) – see attach. Are you not planning replace default gravatar with local? I do not know how real is the increase in speed, but the test scores look significantly better.

From what I see on their plugin page isn’t compatible with BuddyPress and there (in the main menu) avatar it uses a BuddyPress function ( bp_get_loggedin_user_avatar ) to get current user avatar
WE need to keep the gravatar service it’s a WordPress native.
You can ask the plugin author if they haves some workarounds for that.
Cheers
