June 2, 2017 at 03:57 #163269lucasmarstonmusicParticipant
Visual Composer really does not want to work on my website. For a long time I have been having problems where selecting background colors or images for rows absolutely will not save.
I recently purchased the full license of VC and got Massive Addons. I was hoping this would solve my problem but it seems that VC does not want to communicate with my website. Massive Addons offers some page templates which I downloaded and tried to install but none of the backgrounds appear.
In one instance a background image appears for .5 seconds and then disappears.
I have many pages build with visual composer so I don’t want to uninstall and re-install it and risk losing everything. How do I find out what the problem is? Any help would be much appreciated.

My website is black. The background color of that inner row can be saved to white, but if I want that entire row to be white, my selection WILL NOT SAVE. please help, thanks

June 6, 2017 at 20:03 #163547RaduModeratorHi,
If you switch to the default WP theme and try again the actions, you encounter the issue again ?
If yes, it means that it’s a VC or addon problem, if no just enable wp debug then re-save again the bg color or that particular action that aren’t saved.
Please follow these steps to enable wp debug:
- Connect to your server by FTP
- Look in root directory of your WordPress install and open wp-config.php
- Search for define( ‘WP_DEBUG’, false ); and change FALSE value to TRUE
COPY CODEdefine( 'WP_DEBUG', true );
- After this line add this:
COPY CODEdefine( 'WP_DEBUG_LOG', true );
WP_DEBUG_LOG is a companion to WP_DEBUG that causes all errors to also be saved to a debug.log log file inside the /wp-content/ directory. This is useful if you want to review all notices later or need to view notices generated off-screen (e.g. during an AJAX request or wp-cron run).
Repeat the described actions and then check the debug.log file and let me know what error appears.
If this is useless please try to deactivate additional plugins except for Visual Composer, K-elements, BuddyPress, Paid memberships pro and revolution slider.
After you have disabled the plugins try to see if the error persists.
Cheers

This article say’s I may lose some of my websites functionality. I’ve been building it for a year and simply cannot go through the 100 articles and change little things here and there….
http://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/what-happens-when-you-switch-your-wordpress-theme/FTP is very confusing, I signed in with FileZilla according to your instructions and when looking in wp-config.php there is no define( ‘WP_DEBUG’, false ); and change FALSE value to TRUE
Inside wp-config.php it says “Empty directory listing”
Any ideas?

The wp-config.php should be a file not a folder.
Switching themes will not make you loose any setting, just if you delete it or you change the theme.
Meanwhile, please to do the next, go to wp-admin -> plugins -> deactivate, delete visual composer then de-activate and also delete the k-elements.
then go wp-admin -> appearance -> install plugins -> install visual composer and k-elements
Cheers

I switched themes, deleted and reinstalled Visual Composer and K-Elements, ( ‘WP_DEBUG’, false ); was already set to true, …. running out of options here…

The credentials from hosting are incorrect but the WP admin works, meanwhile, please try to update wp to latest version then k-elements and the rest of plugins from wp-admin -> Appearance -> install plugins.
Let me know
Cheers
