Is there a way of triggering a search by pressing the return key after entering a text field?

So, for example, if a user types a name in a member search field then presses return, the form will search, rather than having to click submit?

This is a client request and I think it is a usability issue – if I’m correct in thinking, one of his member associates uses speech to text software because he is unable to use a mouse due to his medical condition.

I contacted dontdream.it, the BP Search plugin creators, but they said that Kleo has its own custom BP Profile Search form templates, so I should turn to you for advice.

Any advice would be gratefully received, thanks.

    Best,

    Paul

Sorry, one other thing I forgot to add. The form has four text input fields. I’m aware that when only one of these is present (i.e. a basic search, rather than advanced), the return/enter keystroke works as the trigger for the search to take place.

Unfortunately, I need it to work if a user inputs text into any of the four text fields.

Again, thanks for any help you can over, it’s much appreciated.

    Hi,

Using FTP please go to wp-content/themes/kleo-child/buddypress/members/

Create a file named bps-form-legacy.php in that you will paste this file content: https://pastebin.com/raw/NSFyj3xn

The CSS will be added to wp-admin -> theme options -> general settings -> quick CSS

The form template should be legacy

NOTE: Child theme needs to be installed and activated.

That’ all you can press enter key and the button will be triggered

    Cheers
