hi support, I am having a problem with the search field on the front page on my dating site. when I select the field criteria then the end results always the same that is no members found.
but when I search using the BuddyPress search field on the left sidebar in a profile page then the search results always come up correct.
now my question is what kind of search plugin did sweetdate uses on the front page?
you can try signing in to my site using my already provided credentials from my other thread here to test the search function.
thanks

The main page search is a custom feature of SweetDate, for me to be able to look into this for you I will require admin credentials. The credentials supplied in the other thread are for a basic user.
Please update this thread with admin credentials so I can look into this further for you.
Thanks,
Kieran.

Thank you for updating the details, please can you update your SweetDate theme from version 2.9.6 to 2.9.10, and let me know after clearing browser cache, website cache and purging services like CloudFlare if the issue persists.
Thanks,
Kieran.

July 15, 2017 at 18:28 #167517internetserviceParticipantwhere to update sweetdate theme? I can only see plugin update here.
July 15, 2017 at 18:39 #167518internetserviceParticipantTo easily update the theme using Envato update plugin you must go to WP-admin -> Sweetdate -> Miscellaneous and enter your Envato username and API Key. After you have saved the settings you will receive update automatically.
I already put the envato username and API key there so I guess the update process must work. so anyway why did the sweetdate custom search isn’t working? can’t I just change the frontpage search to use buddypress search plugin instead?
July 15, 2017 at 18:57 #167520Kieran_SQModeratorHi,
I think it might not be working due to the incompatibility of versions between BuddyPress and SweetDate. I am currently looking into your update issue and will update this ticket as soon as I have an answer for you.
Thanks,
Kieran.

July 15, 2017 at 19:01 #167522Kieran_SQModeratorIn the meantime can you please login to ThemeForest and confirm that these details are correct
If they’re not please update them, if they are correct can you try generating a new API key and saving it in your theme options panel.
Thanks.

July 15, 2017 at 19:15 #167526internetserviceParticipantyes, I had replaced the API key in sweetdate from themeforest with the new API key that I generated there.
so I hope it works out alright.
July 15, 2017 at 19:27 #167528Kieran_SQModeratorHi,
Thanks for updating the API key, the updates now work and I have updated the theme for you.
I am still looking into fixing the search for you, thanks for your patience.
Kieran.

July 15, 2017 at 20:25 #167534Kieran_SQModeratorHi,
I have been looking into your issue and I have now gone as far as I can without going through the obvious issues / debugging steps.
By updating the theme to the latest version we have ruled out SweetDate / BuddyPress version issues. The next step in working out what is causing the conflict is unavoidable, and unfortunately necessary, you’ll have to deactivate your plugins, and reactivate them one by one to test for conflicts. Each time you activate a plugin you will have to clear your browser cache and website cache and test the search form to see if it works.
Because of the sheer volume of plugins you’re using I would advise that you make a content and database backup before starting as well as putting your site into maintenance mode to limit users exposure to the works you will be carrying out.
If you encounter a plugin that causes the form to stop working, please deactivate it again and continue with the rest of test.
Please let me know the outcome of this test.
Regards,
Kieran.

July 15, 2017 at 20:30 #167536internetserviceParticipantokay I can do that though. but why can’t I just put buddypress search field on the frontpage instead? I mean they both act the same right?
July 15, 2017 at 20:38 #167537Kieran_SQModeratorThe search for you referenced is from a plugin called “BP Profile Search” you could use turn off the SweetDate search functionality and use the shortcode generated by BP Profile Search on your home page, however, by doing so you’d lose key functionality of SweetDate.
But to confirm, yes, you could just replace with the shortcode from your plugin.
Kieran.

July 15, 2017 at 20:41 #167538internetserviceParticipantI did have many plugins at the site but many of them were deactivated because I did have issues with them in the past. I think the correct way would be to just put BuddyPress search field on the front page instead, rather than using the search form provided by sweetdate.
July 15, 2017 at 20:42 #167539internetserviceParticipantand where I should put the short code? and what is the buddypress search shortcode? and which file I should change?
I think this would be a better solutionJuly 15, 2017 at 20:44 #167540Kieran_SQModeratorHi,
In that case you can copy across your shortcode and paste it where you want it to appear.
From a general security and performance point of view, if you’re not using a plugin or a theme you should delete it from your install (if possible). Outdated, compromised or non-functioning plugins that are inactive on a WordPress site still pose a risk.
Thanks,
Kieran.

July 15, 2017 at 20:49 #167541Kieran_SQModeratorThe shortcode for your particular search form is
[bps_display form=1166]
This will vary if you create more search forms, in future you can find it by going to Users > Profile Search > On the far right of the page.
You can add this shortcode to the desired location on your homepage by going to Pages > Forside > Edit > Paste the shortcode where you want it to appear.
Kieran.

July 16, 2017 at 06:22 #167565internetserviceParticipantI had deactivated the search form made by sweetdate but I am having troubled placing
[bps_display form=1166]
that display form in the search section that sweetdate form used to be. so are there any way to place the BuddyPress search on the front page side? beside slider revolution location.
July 16, 2017 at 16:20 #167587Kieran_SQModeratorHi @internetservice,
I am going to ask a higher level of support to come into this discussion and help you place your shortcode in the SweetDate search area.
They’ll get back to you tomorrow,
Thank you for you patience,
Kieran.

July 17, 2017 at 15:00 #167681internetserviceParticipantand also if it’s not too much to ask, the higher level support may also find out what causes the sweetdate frontpage search to not work correctly? because I still didn’t know what plugin causes it to not working as expected
July 18, 2017 at 17:13 #167826RaduModeratorHi,
You can identify what causes that by de-activating all plugins at once then check and enble plugins back one by one until you find the ‘problematic’ plugin
At this moment the search form from the homepage looks broke
But the search it works, if I click search the next result page it’s displayed.
Cheers
R.Hi there!!! Help others from the community and mark any reply as solution if it solved your question. Mark as a solutionJuly 18, 2017 at 17:26 #167831internetserviceParticipantcan you do that for me? deactivating the plugin one by one and tell me which plugin is the culprit?
because I already did that by only leaving the core buddypress plugin and yet the search form still not working.
July 19, 2017 at 15:35 #167937RaduModeratorHi,
How the sweetdate specific search form it’s displayed, you will have to delete the shortcode, see below.
Just edit the homepage and delete the red marked shortcode
Cheers
RHi there!!! Help others from the community and mark any reply as solution if it solved your question. Mark as a solutionJuly 19, 2017 at 16:53 #167944internetserviceParticipantwell yes, I put that shortcode because I need to put the buddypress search on the front page due to sweetdate custom search on the front page isn’t working. now I need 2 things here. either sweetdate search custom on the frontpage able to work correctly or I put the shortcode in place after I had deactivated the search custom by sweetdate.
either way I need functional search on the front page.
previous tech support told me sweetdate custom search isn’t working because of conflict with a certain plugin, but he didn’t tell me what plugins caused it. so that’s why I need this search problem to be resolved.
July 20, 2017 at 17:35 #168080RaduModeratorHi,
I see I’ve changed the next option in the option and the default sweetdate search form works as it should
The range function it’s available only for the age field.
Cheers
