I just noticed that I am running WordPress 4.5.3 (with Kleo Child) and WordPress just had an update on Sept 19…which is 4.8.2. Why is my version so behind? I don’t want to manually update it if it’s going to possibly break Kleo.
Also, and this may be related, I was told by the system that I need to update Visual Composer (not on the traditional plugin page….like “update available” but on the notice at the top of the dashboard where all of the plugins related to Kleo and recommended be updated). So now, after the update, I am unable to add VC elements. I click the + in the VC row, the elements window pops up with all of the VC elements, but when I click on any of them, it won’t add it to the row or section. So I’m not sure if this is due to the older version of WordPress I am running now…or due to the Visual Composer update I did today.

September 23, 2017 at 05:36 #174459LauraModeratorHello, wordpress should always be updated to the latest version, kleo updates do no update wordpress, you need to update it each time you see a new release 🙂
To prevent bugs and issues always keep everything up to ate, maybe the VC issue is related to the old wordpress versionHi there!!! Help others from the community and mark any reply as solution if it solved your question. Mark as a solutionLaura Solanes - Graphic Designer and Web Designer

I have never seen this before where WordPress is out of date and I get no notice that it is, nor how to update it manually. So How do I update it manually? And why would this happen?
September 26, 2017 at 00:18 #174764LauraModeratorHello, well, it might be a plugin? Before anything make a backup 🙂 This is a guide of how to update wordpress manually https://codex.wordpress.org/Updating_WordPress#Manual_Update

September 26, 2017 at 00:36 #174769csloanParticipantOK…great…I’ll look into this. Thank you. Just really weird that WordPress is not telling me there’s an update and providing the one click update link.
September 26, 2017 at 01:17 #174773csloanParticipantI just figured out how to do it automatically via Softaculous….so it’s up to date now. I figured it would solve the 2nd issue that I described above in the original post but it did not. Visual Composer is still not working. This only happened after I updated VC when the system told me there was an update and it needs to be updated. Is there anyway of reverting back to the previous version of VC? Anyone else having this issue?
September 26, 2017 at 01:57 #174774csloanParticipantIn my research on this it seems to happen only with pre-packaged versions of VC. And when the theme told me that I needed to update VC, I did so….that’s when it broke.
September 26, 2017 at 12:07 #174803LauraModeratorHello, you could uninstall it and install it again from the theme

September 26, 2017 at 22:52 #174891csloanParticipantOK…tried that now. Didn’t work. Same issue. Uninstalled it, cleared cache, reinstalled it, cleared cache….tested….same issue, won’t let me add any elements. It registers the click by changing color slightly, but the element doesn’t get added to the page.

So I asked a guy in the office who also has a MAC (I’m on Windows 10) to test it. It worked for him….no issue. I tried it again, and had the same issue. I asked another guy in the office to try it on his Windows machine, and it too didn’t work. We’ve also, on our Windows machines, tried it on Firefox and Edge….same issue, doesn’t work. Sooo….seems to be a Windows thing, I think? Anyway that you can try it on a Windows machine, just to see? No idea how to fix this. But it did only start after I updated the VC plugin via theme’s pre-packaged plugin update/install page.
September 28, 2017 at 15:20 #175083RaduModeratorHi,
That’s odd, I saw that you have a bunch of plugins maybe somehow it cam interfere, try to de-activate all plugins of your website except Visual Composer from a computer where using VC isn’t possible to test it…
If you have any cache or minification/optiomization plugin de-activate all.
Also make sure to have all updated ( WP+THEME+PLUGINS )
Let me know
Cheers
