I wonder how profile images get chosen. I could not find a reliable priority rule trying the different settings in WordPress, Kleo, Buddypress, bbPress, etc …
To me it seems to behave quite randomly. Sometimes Facebook images appear. sometimes Gravatar pictures, sometimes the uploaded profile picture and most of the time the default image.
Has anybody a good idea what has priority and where to change settings so one gets the desired priority order? And maybe you could also recommend a good and proven practice regarding profile pictures.
October 24, 2018 at 16:13 #212127LauraModeratorHello, if registering with facebook it should get the facebook photo, for a normal user that has a gravatar email it gets gravatar and for an user that doesnt have gravatar it gets the default one.

October 24, 2018 at 22:56 #212141maxlevelParticipantThanks but the question was about priority.
What if somebody has a Gravatar email and registers with the same email with Facebook and then uploads a Profile picture with Buddypress? Which one shows up?What is the most important, what the least important. In other words what image gets overridden when all of them could show up theoretically.
And is it possible that none of them gets displayed when the condition isn’t clear?
October 25, 2018 at 01:04 #212157LauraModeratorHello, it should be: Gravatar – Facebook – Default image
As wordpress always gets gravatar by the email, but im not sure if our facebook setup would be on top of that, as i haven’t tested it. But the order should be gravatar firstHi there!!! November 2, 2018 at 21:09 #212736maxlevelParticipantMy site was WordPress – Woocommerce – bbPress
I recently added Buddypress and that changes the default bbPress profile to the Buddypress profile.
Now there are lots of profile photos missing in the Buddypress profiles. I don’t know what kind of profile images it shows and what not but a lot of them are missing. Is this a problem of backend settings in WP or Kleo or a general problem with Buddypress?
November 3, 2018 at 19:35 #212771maxlevelParticipantI found out that part of the problem seems to be a plugin YITH WooCommerce Customize My Account Page. I am trying to implement Buddypress and it seems to be not compatible in regards of how the user profile photo is handled and stored.
Can you think of a smart way to migrate other than asking the users to upload their photo again?November 5, 2018 at 14:08 #212838LauraModeratorHello, i have not worked with this plugin before so i do not know any integration for it, you should ask the author about how to integrate it with buddypress

November 9, 2018 at 03:17 #213082maxlevelParticipantI just noticed that I need Buddypress activated. The plugin I mentioned above has no influence on that. As soon as I deactivate Buddypress the local profile images don’t show up in bbPress and also FB images are missing in the overview.
Facebook profile photos show only in the bbPress profile but not in the forum itself.
As I switched on Buddypress it doesn’t bother me now but it will give people headaches when they`re trying to use a WP > WooCommerce > bbPress combination.
November 9, 2018 at 18:49 #213124LauraModeratorHello, i’m sorry i am not sure how this plugin works, bbpress and buddypress avatars are synchronized. I’m not sure about this plugin, this is why i suggested to contact the author

November 10, 2018 at 12:31 #213168maxlevelParticipantSorry, i should have explained that a bit more. It is only a thing between Buddypress and bbPress now. The plugin I mentioned above got replaced by Buddypress. The thing I understand is that when Buddypress is turned off images uploaded with Buddypress won’t show up. That’s perfectly normal.
But Facebook profile images only show up in the profile view, not as small avatars in the topic or reply view in bbPress. I can only see the grey mystery man there. When I click on it and go to the profile, the profile image shows up.
November 12, 2018 at 12:10 #213275LauraModeratorHello, I see, this is because the Facebook login adds the avatar to buddypress and not to bbpress, maybe you could try another social login plugin that has both bbpress and buddypress integrated?
