I made a sidebar and the picked the one I made from the dropdown box inside my post. Then I updated the bost, but the sidebar don\t appear. Is there something Im missing ?

You need to configure it with widgets from Appearance -> Widgets

Actually, cannot get sidebars to work on most pages. I have set up under the Appearance > Widgets page. Is there any other reason they would not be showing up?
Set the default template you want to user for your site from Sweetdate -> Layout Settings. You shoud choose right or left sidebar.

I have set up in appearance – widgets and made sure that the correct sidebar is showing on the blog posting.

You have set your Site structure to be full width, no sidebar so there is no way you will have a sidebar there
