January 22, 2015 at 00:28 #42979theoneParticipantHi Laura,
Thanks for your reply. But that’s not what I need. I know that I can change the type in User > Profile Field and choose between dropdown and multi-select, but that’s not my question. My question is :
In search box/form I want to show a dropdown/combo box to just select 1 value to in “looking for a”. But in member profile, user can select multiple values so they will have an option to select which they want to look at.
So maybe the setup will be like this. In user > Profile Field I will select multiselect type and it will be use in member profile. But in search form I want to show it in dropdown/combo box so I think I need to modify the codes in search form and I want to know what code I need to modify to make it happen.
Thanks!
January 22, 2015 at 18:37 #43061LauraModeratorHello, you can try to create another field to search but only use it in search form, then the other in members profile.
In Sweetdate > Buddypress you can unselect the other field and select to show the dropdown one.Hi there!!! Help others from the community and mark any reply as solution if it solved your question. Mark as a solutionLaura Solanes - Graphic Designer and Web Designer

January 23, 2015 at 02:18 #43116theoneParticipantHi Laura,
Thank you for your reply.
But it will not search properly right? cause if I do that, creating separate field for “Looking for a”, it will search only the field in dropdown, but what I want to do is to have multiple option for member to select which they are looking for and on the search facility, it will capture which they select:
Example:
In Member profile, user will allow to select multiple options in “Looking for a” field:
1. User 1 selected : Male, Female, Gay, Lesbian
2. User 2 selected : Male, GayThen
– If somebody search for “Looking for a” = Male : User 1 and 2 will show
– If somebody search for “Looking for a” = Female : Only User 1 will show
– If somebody search for “Looking for a” = Gay : Both User 1 and 2 again will showThis is what I want to do. So creating two separate fields for “Looking for a” will achieve this scenarios? Let me know how to do it, cause creating separate fields is easy on Profile Fields but can you guarantee that the search function will work like my example? Cause if you create two separate fields and use the other 1 for search, I don;t think it will search the other 1 which has the multiple values.
Hope you understand now the scenarios.
January 26, 2015 at 15:09 #43455AbeKeymasterhi, that is not possible by default to show the fields types differently since they are added in Buddypress as a specific type.
That will imply some custom work from your side with a developer
