I am looking for the best way to customize “This is a private group. To join you must be a registered site member and request group membership.” in the attached picture.

Hello, using a translation plugin you can change anything in the theme and plugins
A plugin you could use is Codestyling Localization:
– Install and activate it
– Scan your language
– Edit it
– Save it
– Click on Generate mo file
