Hi there, been trying to set up a new social site for mums, so kind of like a dating site where mums are matched up with other mums for social networking. I\’ve set up the theme on a sub-directory with a new WP installation. The problem I have is that i want to customise the Home Page, but as soon as I register the page I create under settings – static front page, the page is overwritten with the number of members currently online and profile information. Plus a search form at the top of the screen. You can see what I mean here – http://mummeetsmum.com.au/members. When I register a different page as the home page, the original content on the previous page is then visible. However, I want the home page to be of my own cutsomisation, and not have any member information, not even the number of members registered etc. Basically they need to register before they get any kind of access to the site\’s content. Its a free membership so no need for any paid levels. Have set up a free level in PMP already. Can you help with removing the default members display on the home page template. Thanks
March 3, 2015 at 20:47 #48599LauraModeratorHello, Buddypress pages add automatic codes to show buddypress data, so you should create a new page and use it as your Home page, or import demo pages in your Demo Content folder that came with the download, the demo pages includes an already made homepage, that you can set as static front page and delete the shortcode that shows the carousel of members 🙂

The member info seems to appear by default and I can’t remove it. Even just creating a blank page with no content, when I make that page the static front page in settings-reading, it adds in the member list and who’s logged on etc. Like you can see from the link sent previously.
When I remove that page from being the static front page, it reverts back to the actual content that I entered when I made the page. i.e. it doesn’t matter what content I put in the page, when I make it the static front page, its overwritten with the member info, which I don’t want.
I want to remove the buddypress data from the static front page, but not deactivate buddypress. Is this possible?
I want just the registration form, or mixed form to show on the home page (static front page) along with my own customised content with images, etc. Basically, in order to get into the membership area, I need people to register as a free member or log in. Otherwise no access.
Open to suggestions as I’ve tried for many hours to fix this. Thanks
Jeremy

March 16, 2015 at 01:27 #50234AndreiModeratorIt seems it was an buddypress conflict probably because you have installed wordpress in the same directory as how the members page was named. After changing your “Members” page slug to “mums”, everything seems to work just fine.
Hope this clears out everything.
