    Hi,

background: new w/p root install with BuddyPress (and other plugins) and running your default Kleo theme during this setup stage.

Just changed my site to SSL (with dedicated IP and SSL certificate – all validated) and changed my w/p settings to https and any urls in the plugins to this too. However most pages don’t display a valid SSL padlock on, showing there’s some insecure content, and when I look at the page source the main item that is NOT https is the Kleo favicon with this url:
    http://www.mysite.com/wp-content/themes/kleo/assets/ico/favicon.png
and all the apple-touch-icon links like this…
    http://www.mysite.com/wp-content/themes/kleo/assets/ico/apple-touch-icon-72-precomposed.png

So my query is: when I upload my own icon will it too remain as http:// or as it’s a new upload will it be secure with https?

    Many thnaks.

Hello, you can try with https://www.mysite.com/wp-content/themes/kleo/assets/ico/apple-touch-icon-72-precomposed.png
Dont upload it, just type the link

    Hi @Laura,

Thanks for your reply, though I’m not sure what you mean by

Dont upload it, just type the link

    .

I tried uploading a trial favicon, renamed the Kleo favicon to disable it, and then relaoding the page, but it still showed up as http://….

So would appreciate some other instructions to test it and hoepfully remedy this as it’s the main thing that makes all my site oages show as untrustworthy!

    Cheers.

yes, I’ll take it out of maintenance mode and email you temporary login info.
Currently configuring the functionality so using the default Kleo only.
    Thanks.

Hello, we can try to add it manually to your ftp, could you share ftp login info?

I’ve already tried that by adding one via FTP, and no difference. The only time it shows as https:// is if I specifically ‘force’ a page to only show htttps – then it does. But that’s not really a solution for the site as a whole.

The favicon seems to fall outside of the w/p ‘rules’, as when I enabled https from the w/p admin all other previously uploaded content and images then showed as secure content – just not the favicon.

    Any ideas?

OK, that’s really weird – I’ve just gone back to look at my FTP settings and to reupload another test favicon… and it’s all showing a https:// now! Without doing anythign!
I haven’t run a SSL site before, so maybe it takes a week or so for it to update?…. Anyway, it seems all good now.
    Many thanks.
