    Hi there,

Simple question, how do I make the whole website private (accessible only via a password) whilst we develop the site? I can’t seem to find the usual option to do so under Settings –> Reading.

    Thanks.

Theme Options > General Settings > Enable Maintenance mode.

    Hi Sharmstr
Thanks I have already done that. I was just wondering if there was another way, so it didn’t say Maintenance.

Also, I didn’t want to have it under Maintenance, as I like to check on another browser, how the website is looking, LIVE, simultaneously when working on it. When it’s under Maintenance, I can’t do this.

With a password enabled privacy access, I would be able to access using a password, then be able to check on the website while working on it.

    Does that make sense?

    Thanks so much.

Well, you could log into using the other browser. Anyhow, I’ve used this for over a year, though I have the pro version. What’s nice about it is you can just put in your IP address instead of using a password, though you can do that too https://wordpress.org/plugins/coming-soon/
