When I select the Membership level it is supposed to redirect to Checkout page, but rather it goes back to the home page.  I cannot even access the check out page from the menu.  Please help.

    Okay…NOW WHAT!?!

Okay, so I updated and WAS able to go through the process of creating my account AND signing up and making payment.

We got 3 people who signed up but they required activation but couldn’t. They couldn’t activate because the activation link that was e-mailed to them directed them to a 404 error. After doing some searching online about this issue with BuddyPress I found the fix…then when I corrected that and verified that it worked (Confirmation page was nested under “Membership Account” page > set to No Parent) I went to try out the coupon codes and it once again redirected me to the HOME page. I double checked the link’s target and it is going to a nested link. I unnested the link and tried it again…still does the same thing. PLEASE HELP! We cannot collect money and our users cannot access the site without this! I will follow this post up with a private post with admin creds.

    Thanks.

Okay, I had fixed the membership levels. But now what happens is when I go to sign up and put the initial information in and it takes me to the membership levels page, I noticed that it’s still asking me to Log In or Sign Up…then when I select the level, same thing.

So, now while you can select membership levels you still aren’t signed up.

    I just don’t know anymore.

    PaidMembershipsPro said this:

It looks like these are all issues specific to this theme, and it seems like there are a lot of strange things going on. I would contact the theme author to try get them fixed.

The “Create your account” button in the popup links submits the form to the checkout page, but no level is passed. I’m not sure why this links to the checkout page instead of just creating an account, but the checkout page needs a level passed like https://cosdates.com/membership-checkout?level=1 or using a hidden field in the form.
    action=”https://cosdates.com/membership-checkout/”
When no level is passed, PMPro redirects back to the Levels page. Is there somewhere in your theme options, etc. to change those links?

    Please help! 🙁

After Deactivating everything and reactivating one by one, it’s clear that the error lies within the BuddyPress plugin. Is there anything that you can do to help, please!

Hi @cosdates, can you please provide me an step by step description of how I can reproduce the issue you’re encountering so I can properly test it in the exact same way you’re doing it.

    Looking forward.

Hello @Andrei, the site is as it is.

Go to http://www.cosdates.com and click the button at the top right that says “Sign Up”. Create your account in the lightbox popup and then proceed. When the Levels pages opens, select any level and you’ll notice that it’s now prompting you to “Log In” or “Sign Up” again. Clearly indicating that it didn’t carry the membership information over that you created. When you try to log in at this screen (or any other) it says “ERROR: Invalid username. Lost your password?”, so then you do the “Sign Up” and it redirects you back to the levels page.

NOW, in the admin side, when you go to check both USERS in the WordPress users function, no one shows up, even in pending, nor do they show up in the members list of PaidMembershipsPro.

I have been back and forth with SeventhQueen and PMPro support and (as seen above) they say it’s a Theme issue. I have been able to successfully create a user account AND make payment, provided I disable BuddyPress plug-in…which is the meat and potatoes of the SweetDate theme.

We have a convention to go to this weekend where we have paid nearly $500 for marketing materials and access at the convention just to announce our site and the site isn’t even working. We have demoed others and we like SweetDate and we don’t want to have to settle for one of your competitors…especially since they too run BuddyPress and we’ll probably just run into the same issues again. PLEASE HELP!!!

Well, firstly, the BuddyPress plugin will come by default with an account activation step, so when a user completes the register popup and they are getting redirected to the levels page, they AREN’T activated and neither logged in, in this first case you will have to find a way to deactivate buddypress account activation process.

Secondly, WordPress by default doesn’t auto logs you in after register, so this is why you get on the levels page and you’re asked again to login or register, and even if you want to login with the previous created user, you won’t be able because of the BuddyPress activation step described earlier, a solution for this would be to use an wordpress autologin on register plugin.

Blaming on the theme is the most easy way that plugin authors usually find to say to customers when they are stuck. In this case it’s a simple matter of knowing how all plugins work in part and also when you try to use them all at once.

Please proceed with the things I’ve suggested and let me know how it works.

    Cheers

The plugin BP Disable Activation Reloaded was installed by SeventhQueen trying to help, but it did nothing. Also, the tech from PaidMembershipsPro said she added some code to the functions.php file for the theme that was meant to prevent the redirect from happening. (When you selected a level it redirected to Home page).

There is no activation e-mail that I received when I signed up for my account to test it out. There’s no record that I even typed anything in. And if you were to disable buddypress and then repeat the steps, you’ll see that by the time you get to the screen after the levels, it gives you a form to fill in more of your profile for your account. So, you telling me that it would naturally not log you in is something I don’t understand.

If you have attmpted to create an account, please help me fix this. If not, please try to create an account so that you can see what it’s doing. ALSO…in this forum thread is both admin login information AND ftp information set to private…please use whatever you need to help fix this problem.

I just see that there is a problem with the “Create my account” button from the register popup, it won’t process any data you enter in there, it will simply redirect you to the levels page without creating any account.

By default the register popup should have pointed to the buddypress register page, in case you have buddypress activated, this issue might have appeared because of some custom modifications that you might have made to the theme or because of some plugins that produces conflicts.

As how this is more related to the way plugins work and the way you want to impose your registration work flow and not to the theme, the issue itself will require more investigations and probably some custom developments as well which are out of the scope of our support.

If you have a developer to help you with this will be wonderfull, if not I recommend you to hire one, or if you want, I can recommend you to someone of our team.

As an side example you could use any default wordpress theme, achieve the workflow you want to have on your site using the plugins you need and if our theme interferes and disturbs this workflow you set I’ll be more than happy to help you fix/change that.

Please let me know if I can help you with anything else.

    Cheers

First, I did not edit any of the code of the theme or plugins.

Second, am I reading you right saying that there’s nothing you can do to help other than telling me to hire a programmer?

The only things that I have done to the themes or plugins is simply used the admin aspects to set up our settings. This is mighty frustrating, I must say @Andrei.

Have you even looked at the admin side of our site? Please help!

The easiest thing I can do to work is to remove the “Sign up” popup, and link the “Sign Up” button from the header directly to the membership levels page, from where a visitor will select the membership and will go to the checkout page, where I can make a small adjustment to show you the default pmpro register form.

Please let me know if this will work for you …

    @Andrei,

I deleted the theme only and reinstalled it.

Now, I can easily create a profile and activate it using the activation link sent via e-mail…however, we are back to the issue we had before. When I select a level it redirects me to the HOME page. I presume this might have been the code that PaidMembershipsPro had added to the functions.php code, but now that seems it may have created a conflict during the account creation phase.

    PLEASE HELP!

Hi, Please understand that this is not an issue of the theme, it’s how each plugin works and the thing that what you want to achieve is a custom scenario which will most probably require a few hours of paid work.

Please let me know if you want me to put you in contact with one of our developers for an exact quote.

    Cheers

    @Andrei,

I bought a turnkey theme with plugins that was supposed to work out of the box. It hasn’t worked since day 1. First it was activation issues, then it was payment plugin redirecting to home (which is where we are at now) and then when I thought we had that fixed it was account creation.

This system isn’t working as it should…PERIOD. We were sold a bill of goods that were bad. I don’t want to press the issue, but I shouldn’t have to pay MORE for custom programming for something that SHOULD HAVE WORKED FROM THE BEGINNING!

I’m not trying to make this do anything that I was not led to believe that it already does. On the Envato Marketplace it says “Membership levels”…and it also says…”awesome support”.

If a Support person is telling me that the only thing that I can do is pay more by hiring a programmer that he is going to recommend to me to fix something THAT SHOULD HAVE WORKED AS IT WAS DESCRIBED then this is a bait and switch tactic.

Please, offer me some of that “awesome support” by helping me fix this issue to work the WAY IT WAS INTENDED TO WORK!!!

I have installed a few plugins and made some custom modifications for the redirect rule, but please understand that because you’re a non technical person probably you don’t understand this right.

It’s not a theme fault that the all plugins that you want to use and interconnect aren’t fully designed to work one with each other.
The modifications I’ve made in your case are not normally covered by our support plan.

    Cheers

Okay, now the only problem is when I click ACTIVITY at the top to take me to, effectively the Buddy Press activity feed, I get redirected back to Membership Levels.

I was able to successfully create an account, use a discount code at checkout, and process payment. If the above issue is resolved then it looks like we’ve found all the errors until after our BETA test.

    @Andrei,

As for us trying to do things that the theme wasn’t designed for…could you elaborate? Because I thought this theme was designed to be a dating site theme that would work immediately. If I am mistaken about this, then please let me know, because I have some suggestions for changes on how you describe this theme.

Please check the restrictions that you might made under “Theme Options > Memberships” or in the Activity page. You get redirected away from the activity page because you’ve restricted the access to that page.

I also found lots of misconfigurations made in the buddypress settings which I had to fix.

Let me know how it works …

You are failing to understand that a theme is related to user interface and design, functionality or complex features resides in plugins. We have made custom integrations for the plugins we use and recommend to be used with our theme but please understand that a theme can’t change the way a plugin works, this are custom developments which are done on top of the plugins.

I recommend you to take some time and read and watch some basic wordpress tutorials in order to better understand how this whole system works.

What it seems to me is that you are saying that one cannot purchase your theme, install it, do web-based configurations within the theme, and be up and running within a couple of hours. What is sounds like you just told me is that after purchasing the theme, there must be high levels of coding that must be done in order to make your product work as it was billed to work out of the box.

it does seem that everything is working as EXPECTED UPON PURCHASE. Yes…thank you.

Absolutely not, but as long as you don’t have any advanced knowledge in order to make some custom setups you will have to go with what is provided, but you didn’t.

In your current case you have requested a custom work flow, which can be achieved relatively easy but will require understanding how the wordpress system works and his plugins and will require install and setup of a few additional plugins.

I want to note it one more time, the way the plugins work isn’t meant to be changed by the theme, you’re buying a theme, we’re responsible of all issues related to user interface and design, but the functionalities and work flow are part of the wordpress system and his plugins.

You’re buying a theme, not a ready out of the box system/platform, fully pre-configured, it requires a minimum understanding from your side as well in order to set it up and get it running, and you seem to hardly understand this and you’re keep referring that everything should work as expected because you bought the theme. Also related to this, maybe some things should have worked better if you didn’t made some misconfiguration into your plugins settings.

We are also already working on building some tutorials especially for such cases, in order to help people understand quicker and easily how the whole system works.

Please let me know if I can help you with anything else.

    Cheers

Hi @andrei, I’m hoping that you might be able to help me. I would just like to change the “create an account” link on the login pop-up to redirect to go to another page, specifically to the membership levels with paid membership pro. I’ve tried to update it with the Buddypress pages setting but it just keeps going to the regular buddypress signup page.

    Thank you.

    Hi,

You’ll have to copy the “wp-content/themes/sweetdate/page-parts/general-login-modal.php” file into your child theme, ex: “wp-content/themes/sweetdate-child/page-parts/general-login-modal.php”, and edit the link founded at the line 4, you will have to remove the ( data-reveal-id=”register_panel” ) part and add your desired href.

If you need more help beside this please consider opening a separate ticket.
