Hi,
We’ve recently realised that the user avatars aren’t displaying on our buddypress site at all, which is a huge concern for us. There is simply no option to upload an avatar in the profile settings, and yes the ‘allow users to upload avatar’ setting’ is on.
The ability to upload and change a cover image is there, and works fine, but where the ‘upload avatar’ subheading is in the demo site we just have a blank space. See attachment.
Where the avatar should be there is a tiny white circle, so the feature does appear to be there in some form, it’s perhaps as there’s no option to upload a photo it defaults to that tiny white dot – with the blue ‘online’ dot above. Again see attachment.
After reading another thread I went through and deactivated all of our plugins one by one. None of these had any impact on the functionality of avatars. I switched to default themes, but i think having both cover photos and avatars is one of the unique features of Kleo? There was also no option to upload an avatar across either our previous theme or twentyfifteen.
It’s extremely frustrating for what appears to be a basic component of Kleo to not be working. Can someone please help us?
Thanks!

The correct way to test for a plugin conflict is to disable all plugins (except buddypress in this case). If the option to upload returns, then enable plugins one by one.
In any case, you had avatars disabled in WP Admin > Settings > Discussion.
Moving this topic because its not a bug.

Thanks once again for your help! Don’t I feel like a fool now… :$
Thanks for your tips and solution! Having spent hours trying to figure it out and in the end it was such an easy solution! Seeing avatars were enabled on a few other settings pages I think I hadn’t even considered the Discussion tab as well.
Much appreciated
