Hi!

Thanks for this wonderful theme! Okay I’m maybe stupid but I can’t setup the GeoNames autocomplete? How to do for France ? I have to create a account on GeoNames but after that I’m totally lost…

Hi, you should put your geonames username in Sweetdate – Buddypress – Geonames username.
Select your City field in “City field”
Then if you have a country field just select that in “Country field”. If you don’t have a field for the Country for users to select in their profiles then ignore that setting and put your country code in “Country Code” as in http://www.geonames.org/countries/ That will probably be FR

That should be it

Inspecting your site, I found you have some JavaScript errors. Try disabling some plugins and see which is causing this

I have disabling all my plugins I have add and it’s still not working ! ?

Strange. I did a test with our geonames username and it worked. Make sure your username for geonames is valid

If you have also the country displayed and want the autocomplete to happen by the country users select then you must also set the Country field in the options. make sure to set your geonames username

I am also having the same issue as above. I have the username entered and City field linked, as well as the country field.

One other part i didn’t understand is how to enable webservices in my geonames account

Thanks. A few other questions:

A) Is there any setting that will let the options appear after typing the first letter? They appear once about 3 letters have been typed
B) Is there any option that displays which state the city is associated to? Miami, FL versus Miami, OH

There is anyway to have the autocomplete fields in different language? My site is an italian site, so this autocomplete is in english and it doesn’t have much sense 😛

Hi, the names of the cities come from geonames.org so you should look on their website if they have some kind of localization options where you can set a language parameter to the request.
the file responsible for the autocomplete is: wp-content/themes/sweetdate/custom_buddypress/kleo-bp-city-auto.php

I have been reading all the comments and I tried to do everything that you recommend us, but it doesn’t work for me. I have an account in geonames, i have my username and I already enable for webservice.
I did everything from sweetdate>Buddypress but it still the same.
What should I do?

…and after 24 hours a miracle happened. It works ! Joy !

Still one question, it works when creating/editing a profile. But it doesn’t work in the widget, when searching. Is that right ? That it does not work in a widget ? Only in the profile fields ?

I did the same like you, my question is: in the search box in the homepage do you have Country field? or city field? or both of them?

What do you mean for creating-editing a profile? you mean when people are going to register in your website?

It’s ok if you can take some screenshots about what you did? also your settings as well?

Autocomplete for ” Country ” it’s autocomplete for long time ago , it’s to build by sweetdate theme or by us.
But we’re talking about autocomplete for ” City ” after we choose country. This thing will done by geonames system. Right ?
And then , this issue not FIX ?
We should to wait some help from Mr.ABE

..and after 48 hours – suddenly, everything works here. Did not change anything, just made the fields the system needs and regustered ( and activated !) the geonames account

Yes – you need an account at Geonames.
Then go to http://www.geonames.org/manageaccount and make shure that the Free websservice is activated.
I enclosed an inmage.

And then – your points 1,2,3, – and at my webste it works. But after about 48 hours. Why? I do not know.
