    Hi,

I logged into your site to look at the issue and found that when I switch to parent SweetDate theme the images works fine as does the profile menu (which also was not working).

Please make a backup of your SweetDate Child theme and remove your template changes, clear you cache to see it all working as it should. Upload each file one by one, clearing your cache (Ctrl+F5) each time until the issue appears again, when it does it will mean you have identified the file causing the issue. Please let me know when you have found it and I will be able to look into this further for you.

    Thanks,

    Kieran.

Thanks Kieran for the quick response, didn’t expect until the week day.

maybe I’m misunderstanding, when I removed the files in the child theme the site was a mess. Still could not view images.

Also not sure what is not working with Profile Menu?

    Thanks.

I have worked on this site for a year and had to reinstall and rebuild last week due to storage issues, for whatever reason things are not coinciding with what was done and good to go. I was hoping to launch next week, little things can be fixed down the road but this one is a big issue. I really hope we can resolve this… 🙁

Also I initially removed one by one, verses removing all and then uploading one by one, before I removed everything as the state it is in now.

Ok so I made a mess and reinstalled the child theme, however I still cannot view images on a profile.

    OK.
By chance am I able to get a prior version of the theme? Currently it it 2.9.5 and we were working with the version prior to this one I believe unfortunately I can’t find it saved.

Also you mentioned there was an issue with the Profile Menu? Can you bring that to my attention I don’t know what it is. Thanks

    Hi,

I think to can use the old sweet-date version 2.9.5 then you will have to use older plugins buddypress and rtmedia versions from that time.

So my advice it’s to update theme and rest of the plugins to latest versions.

The marked area from the picture should contain add friend button sent message and more like this : https://seventhqueen.com/demo/sweetdatewp/members/demo/

So if you really need to use the 2.9.5 version and the plugins from those version you can ask on the hosting provider to restore a background from the past. NOTE: Signups, uploads and activities between restoring date and present will miss, doing this you can find only what plugin versions are you using.

    Cheers

The add friend/wall/message are there for other profiles.

I bought the theme last year in June/July I believe and never updated theme until last week but in that time I did update all plugins that I used when updates came like rtmedia, bbpress etc and had no issues.
Is there someone on dev still looking into this?

fyi also there is no backup to refer to, as I had to switch to a Dedicated server due to storage issues so this site was a new install of the theme to a temp domain name and then had the old domain name switched over to the temp. I initially installed the recent version of SweetDate but there were so many changes I referred back to an older theme.
As an fyi if I updated will I lose the site that I built, ie forum structure etc? I’m not concerned with the child theme as I removed everything from there due to this issue.

I will ask now about updating as I never figured that out. Do I dl the file, extract contacts, and upload the child theme zip only?

Let me clarify more, looking at the contents likely I have to upload both parent and child. I’ll assume if I go this route that when I upload both it will just overwrite the two existing installed themes (parent/child) and everything like menus, widgets, pages that I created already (home, about us, etc) forums, will still stay intact?

    Hi again,

So the parent theme files can be overwritten by uploading the theme files over the existing files by overwrite them in this path :
    wp-content/themes/sweetdate/

For the child theme, theoretically the child theme shouldn’t be updated since there are your file changes, or custom css added in child, so if you haven’t done that kind of modifications you can update it, but in the first instance de-activate child theme and update the parent and see if the member profile appears correctly. If yes and you activate child theme and it beaks the layout it means there are some old templates that breaks the layout.

So the pages and theme settings are loaded and stored in database, so updating theme files will not loose nothing, but its good to make a backup for later use (who knows ?) Yes it will remain intact pages forum etc…

    Cheers

After you update, if the layout looks wired re-save theme options from wp-admin – theme options -> save changes and check again.

OK I will try this since I can’t get resolution and I have opened a thread on the rtmedia forums as well but haven’t had additional feedback for a few days, but would like to clarify with you. I watched a demo on youtube about updating themes though best to check with you about a few things first.

    1. I’ll assume that I should do this through ftp? So this is the route that I’ll do then.
    2. Should I deactivate the theme first in Dashboard and select another theme like the twenty fifteen or just right away transfer over the SD folder? This is what I saw on YT.
    2. Do I have to reload the demo-sweetdate.xml? Would I have to activate anything else?
    3. I’m going to deactivate all 3rd party plugins, though should I keep revslider, bbpress, buddypress and rtmedia active? Your suggestion?
    4. I will check the site first with the parent theme, especially the rtmedia issue and then will upload the child theme that came with the update. I’ve already removed all my custom files so uploading again won’t be an issue.

That’s it, let me know if I’m missing any details. I’m not quite sure what you mean with your last response but I’ll look into that if something happens. Thanks

    Hi,

    1. Or via FTP or via wp admin , you can activate the twenty sixteen theme then delete sweetdate theme , then themes -> add new -> upload -> activate.

    2. You can re-upload the theme files over the existing files in wp-content/themes/sweetdate with or without de-activating the theme!

    2. No, you don’t need the demo, if you had imported in the past.

    3. You can update the theme with plugins on, but you can switch them off or not, there is no issue.

    4. You can save your sweetdate-child theme folder from wp-content/themes/ and then to re-install new sweetdate child clean.

Make sure to update all plugins beside theme.

    Cheers

Hello so everything is updated. The pictures are fixed 🙂

    1.
However commentating with uploading a photo doesn’t work.

While I look through things, yes I can appreciate what was done and I do like some of it, however there are some glaring issues.
    I don’t know if I should create another thread…

    1.
Members search is gone, that’s the most significant issue: I am/Looking for /City/Age etc

There are things on the Dashboard that I need to acquaint with as I’m not sure what they do or are.

    2.
Widgets: all Avatars are squared and too big. So if I select Who’s Online as a Widget the Avatars are squared and everything seems to drop into a Column rather then a Row as it was before. It’s the same for Groups they fall in a Column.
Also in Activity feed. It seems to have bad formatting as well. I could see it work better if they were round and smaller.

    3.
On number highlights it is incased in blue can that be removed. It’s in a lot of
places Profile/Members/Groups. There are examples on the pics. You’ll see in some cases it just doesn’t work/look good.

    4.
On Mobile there is the number 21 right underneath the Profile/Logout button.
There are also many black dots across the site in certain areas. I uploaded pics to show except for the number 21 from my phone. I’m thinking the black dots are Show Who’s Online but broken somehow.

    5.
Sticky now for some reason “truncates”(?) not sure if right wording but I uploaded a pic as well.

    6. Cover image in Groups doesn’t load or show. To make another point of that, there is no indication that an image has been uploaded or if it is still in the process of uploading.

    7. There use to be a BP-Truncated(?) I beleive it was called that turned off the Album tab in the Profiles page and that seems to be gone now? It looks like it has been replaced with BuddyPress Plugins Hook but I don’t know what that is for? I’d like the Album tab removed.

    8. Selecting Show Member Online doesn’t show. Meaning there is no green light next to an Avatar indicating they are online.

    ————————
I had tested all this without plugins aside from the usual bbpress, buddypress, revslider, rtmedia. I reactivated Jetpack, Allinone, and antivirus after looking around the site and seeing the issues. I have left the other plugins deactivated.

    9?
I have also now uploaded my changes on the Child theme and I noticed my images for Groups on Home page is gone, as well as on the messaging wall posts, also before I input my changes the Avatars where huge and squared as well.

This is discouraging and why I feared updating the theme and ignored it for a year while I had help to work with what I started with. I just wanted the basic functions and about the content that will be created for the site and now I fear I’m another month+ out and need help just to get the basics back…

If I mess around with Show: search function in both Activity and Groups that is when I will get the Avatars to show on the side. However clicking back between Activity and Groups hides them again. You can see the bad formatting of the images to the left.

    Hi,

It seems the dynamic css files missing, so try to re-save theme options from wp-admin -> theme options -> save changes.

    Then check again.

Tried to do that for you but the credentials not works for me.

If it’s the same try to de-activate child theme then re-save the theme options and check again.

Purge all caches if you have some plugin or cloudflare.

    Let me know

Did not work. It reset the BuddyPress options and I had to reset. Right now it is running off the parent and formating like font sizes is whacked and rev slider wallpaper was removed when doing theme options. I uploaded a pic to show where I did the theme option save and then the purge all

That process removes all my Widgets as well and resets everything in the Sweetdate theme to defaults.

Members page has no options for search.

No Widgets are back. Site seems to bug out from time to time it’s weird. Sometimes posts disappear and then reappear later.

One thing is though a whole ton of stuff seems to be fixed and looks really good. Since I asked a few other questions on the forum I just need to figure out what I need to save in the theme so I don’t over write when I upload some of my other changes to the child theme. At this point some things I may not need to change so I will have to be mindful of what I upload back.

    Hi,

I’ve added in style.css from child theme the css that missing, so if you need to add additional css do it at the end of the file.

So if you had some css from your old child theme just copy styles from the old to new one at the end of style.css file.

    That’s it!

    Hi,

Figured finally… you have in child theme some old php files which prevents the form to be displayed, now i’ve re-uplaoded a new child theme named Sweetdate Child CLEAN where it’s added in style the css that missing from buddypress and how all are good as it should.

Your home page it’s named Home-Default make sure to keep it public not private like others.
