ParticipantHello,
I am having an issue with my users’ images being rotated the wrong way (i.e. 90 degrees counter-clockwise) especially when uploaded via a mobile device. I found a similar ticket on this forum:
https://archived.seventhqueen.com/forums/topic/mobile-issue#post-22926
However, there doesn’t seem to be any resolution and the issue is still happening on my site.
Has there been any progress on this issue (either with SweetDate or BuddyPress)? I’m not sure which software is the cause, but I am sure I can’t be the only person affected.
Thank You!

ParticipantI have created a demo user for you on my beta site, where you can see the problem. You will need to enter a password before you can view any of the site content:

It was too tricky for me to figure out how to make you a demo user on my live site without making you visible to everyone, but if you go to /members and look on page 2, you can see an example of a sideways avatar.
On the live site, there are now about 70 users, and probably around 10 of them have sideways avatars. From my personal experience, it only seems to be an issue when uploading the image via a mobile device.
Thanks and let me know if you need any additional info from me.

ModeratorHello, i see but the image is actually like that, its not being rotated by css
Did you try to upload one and test it?Hi there!!! Help others from the community and mark any reply as solution if it solved your question. Mark as a solutionDecember 12, 2015 at 15:36 #92803singleandsober
ParticipantHello Laura,
Thanks for your response. I wasn’t expecting CSS to be the culprit, otherwise that would be a fairly easy fix. To answer your question, I have tried uploading many images and testing them myself. As I noted, it seems to happy most often with mobile devices.
I just tried it again, and a photo that is oriented in portrait mode on my iPhone got uploaded sideways as my avatar image. This is very important to me, as most of the users for my dating site are going to be uploading portrait-oriented images of themselves, and having them come out sideways (even if not 100% of the time) makes our site look extremely unprofessional.
Thank you

ModeratorHi,
Such issue is not related to the theme, images are shown exactly how you upload them, if they are rotated it means that thats how they are saved on your local hard drive. Please open such image in a program like Photoshop in order to see it’s correct orientation, because in your file browser or image viewer the image might appear rotated even if the original file isn’t.
Cheers

ParticipantAndrei,
Is there a plug-in available that we could install on our sweetdate website that users could simply rotate their photo 90 degrees clockwise?
Please advise
