    Hi,

When I try to use the Kleo login form I input my username and password and click submit. But I am directed to a 406 Not Acceptable Error. Every time I do that the same thing happens. Here is a screenshot of the error: http://prntscr.com/hkwzii.

It says this error is because of mod_security. I don’t want to disable mod_security on my server so is there a work-around for this?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

Thanks for contacting us about server security. The error you’re receiving, as you have noted, is due to mod_security – this means that the error is being thrown due to rules you have set at a server level.

You should review these rules and your security logs to find out why mod_security is throwing the error and add an exception to mod_security for it.

    Thanks,

    Kieran.

    Hi Kieran,

I talked to my host about this and since I do not have a VPS I cannot set specific rules for mod_security. Why is mod_security blocking your custom login form but not the default WP login form? There has to be some plugin of yours that is causing issues with mod_security. There has to be some sort of workaround to this?

Can you please look into this issue a little more? Maybe you can do something to the form to stop mod_security from blocking it?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

The form we have is processed in the same way as the wp-login.php and /wp-admin/ login form so in general it shouldn’t be handled any differently than any other form within WordPress. The only difference I can see is the URL where the request is sent from is not wp-login.php or /wp-admin/.

I can’t tell you why mod_security is blocking this, I would need to see the rules your host has set and your security logs to see why it was blocked to offer an opinion.

If you cannot access these logs or these rules your host should be able to, please ask them to review the logs for anything obvious and adjust if they can. Please also share the logs here in a .txt file so I can take a look.

If they are unwilling to adjust any rules for you on an account level it is unlikely anything we could do on this end would work as it is likely to be something very broad to throw a 406 error for a standard login form.

    Thanks,

    Kieran.
