Hello,
Activity stream has stopped showing recent comments automatically. I have no idea why that happened and how to ensure that they are shown in the activity stream again.
Apart from that Forums have stopped functioning for guests. I can view it when I am logged in as admin. If I access it after logging out, it shows a blank page.
Same happens with groups.
I’m investigating still but it looks like a lot of functionality has automatically stopped working. Any clue what’s causing this and how to rectify it?
October 18, 2015 at 17:40 #83030sharmstrModeratorThat’s usually an indication of a plugin conflict. Disable all plugins that weren’t suggested by Kleo and see if that solves the issue.

October 19, 2015 at 11:40 #83121kartik786ParticipantHi, I tried it and still the same issue. I doubt it has any plugin conflicts. Looks like something changed with kleo after the upgrade and now everything is breaking.
October 19, 2015 at 13:56 #83125sharmstrModerator1 – Activity stream: I added a test post and it showed up automatically
2 – I logged in, went to forums, logged out and could still see the forums. No white page on main forum page, topic listing and individual topics.
3 – Same with groups. No white page.
Maybe you need to clear your browser cache.

October 19, 2015 at 14:15 #83131kartik786ParticipantHello,
Thanks. Did you make any changes? I am able to see forums and groups properly now.
However, the problem with activity stream not showing up comments still persists. Is there a setting somewhere that needs to be edited?
October 19, 2015 at 14:49 #83133sharmstrModeratorI didnt change anything. I just logged in and tested. I tested both on firefox and chrome. There are no settings you need to change. It worked.

October 19, 2015 at 14:55 #83137kartik786ParticipantHey buddy, the recent comments still don’t work.
Example : I just replied to someone’s comment : here , but it is not showing up in activity feed.
October 19, 2015 at 16:17 #83159sharmstrModeratorI initially thought you meant that updates weren’t automatically showing up when they are posted in the activity feed. Now that I understand you meant page/post comments, I tested with the WP 2015 Theme enabled and they do not work so it doesnt appear to be a Kleo issue.
@abe – Can you take a look at this. I’ve spent about an hour testing different scenarios.1 – Kleo Demo site: Post/Page comments are not showing up in the activity feed.
2 – My test site 1: BP 2.3.4 with Kleo 3.0.10 and WP 2015 Theme… Post/Page comments are not showing up in the activity feed.
3 – My test site 2: First with BP 2.3.3 and Kleo 3.0.10 – Worked fine. Second with BP 2.3.4 and Kleo 3.0.10 and WP 2015 Theme – worked fine.
In both 2 and 3 tests all plugins except BP were disabled and both sites are on the same server. No caching. Its strange that it works on one site and not the other.
I’ve gone through the last few BP change logs and dont see anything that would have caused this to break in BP 2.3.4

October 20, 2015 at 16:00 #83361sharmstrModeratorSince I’ve pretty much proven its not a Kleo issue (you can test this yourself by temporarily enabling the WP 2015 Theme to see if you still have the issue) we will be reliant upon BP to figure it out or at least assist. We have no control over their resources.
If you absolutely need this to work right now, you can try downgrading BP to 2.3.3 https://wordpress.org/plugins/buddypress/developers/

October 20, 2015 at 16:25 #83370kartik786ParticipantBuddy, that wouldn’t be the right way to go about it. The functionality has to stay intact. Its only a matter of time when the whole KLEO community realizes that this function has stopped working.
Please figure out a solution instead of brushing it aside as a bp issue
October 20, 2015 at 17:24 #83375sharmstrModeratorIts not affecting all Kleo sites. I’ve proven that.
Does it work for you with the WP 2015 Theme enabled?

October 21, 2015 at 08:02 #83507kartik786ParticipantAre you from seventhqueen?
Your – ” I’ve proven this, I’ve proven that ” attitude is becoming a bit irritating for me.
Who is going to provide a solution for this? Wasn’t @abe looking into it?
October 21, 2015 at 16:02 #83533sharmstrModeratorI wasnt trying to be irritating. You were implying that this was a Kleo bug. I was telling you that it wasnt.
Turns out this isnt a bug and its not a kleo issue. Its the new way that buddypress is syncing post comments. Instead of showing an individual activity item for the comment, it will attach it to the original post activity item. So since the newsletter post you linked me to is 4 years old, you’d have to scroll down through 4 years to see it.
Go to your activity feed and scroll down to the last post you published. You will see the comment I left.

October 21, 2015 at 17:32 #83551kartik786ParticipantHi, Thank you for trying to solve this problem. Yes I am able to see comments with rtMedia disabled. It’s one of the recommended plugins by Kleo though. Should I leave it disabled?
However, not all comments are showing up.
Eg: http://www.bms.co.in/tybms-sem-6-cbsgs-results-dates-of-april-2015-exams/comment-page-1/#comment-988564 has comments 24 hours ago and 15 hours ago but they are not showing up in activity feed.
Can you please rectify.
October 21, 2015 at 17:45 #83555sharmstrModeratorI found this issue with the WP 2015 Theme and another theme I’m using on a different site. So, its not as if we need to fix something in Kleo. The reason why I didnt notice this before on the old test site that I mentioned before is because rtMedia hadnt been updated. No, I dont think you need to leave rtMedia disabled, but you need to decide that for yourself until rtMedia releases a fix. In other words, what’s more important at this very moment to you. Seeing comments or users adding media?
I’ll be reporting this to rtMedia.
As far as those newer comments, they were made on old posts. So perhaps there’s an issue that BP introduced with their recent update and changes in blog comment syncing that effects posts created before the BP update released 2 weeks ago.

October 21, 2015 at 18:07 #83570kartik786ParticipantHi, I enabled 2015 and no, the newer comments on the older posts are not showing.
Can you please update me when rtmedia solves this issue? Comments are integral to the network.
October 21, 2015 at 18:29 #83573sharmstrModeratorOf course.
I think I figured out your newer comments on old posts issue. The activity item for that post doesnt exist, so it cant display a comment for it in the activity feed.
I went to your activity feed, changed the filter to Posts and scrolled down back to 4 months ago and its not in the list. As a test, I clicked on one from 2 months, 2 weeks ago, made a comment and that did show up.
In looking at the comment filter query that BP uses to get a list of comments, its reliant upon the original post activity to be in the activity table. So, this isnt a bug. If you can demonstrate that this isnt the case, I’ll be happy to investigate further.

I havent opened a case with rtMedia yet since I have a test site that’s not having this issue. I can run BP 2.3.4 and rtMedia AND see comments. Anyhow, can you do some testing on the Kleo demo site which is also having this problem? I just want to make sure that we are certain its a rtMedia issue before contacting them.

I updated the theme with the latest update that was pushed and I’m seeing blank pages again

About the rtMedia issues, I’ll run some tests and I’ll get back to you once I have more details.
Looking forward.

Now it shows up a page but the topic discussion still doesn’t show up.
November 12, 2015 at 19:01 #86980AndreiModeratorYou have activated and trying to use an deprecated old Groups component of BuddyPress which isn’t supported anymore.
You will have to go to Settings > BuddyPress > Forums, uninstall the old component and after that go to BuddyPress components and deactivate the Group Forums ( Legacy ) component.
Group forums are already natively supported now and you don’t have to use this old component. More settings of the native groups forums component can be found in Settings > Forums where you’ll find them in a group of settings related to BuddyPress integration.
I could have made the right settings into your site myself but I don’t have access to create a database backup before proceeding with it so please do this settings and everything should work just fine.
Cheers
