Hi,
My activity stream is giving me the error: “Sorry, there was no activity found. Please try a different filter.” even when there is significant activity to be found. When I try to type a status update from this page there is text but the post button doesn’t appear to post it. Also when I click on the “My friends” filter it is taking me back to my account page, I want it to just stay on the same page and filter the activity there. And the dropdown menu does nothing to help filter the activity either. Any help with this would be great, thanks! I have updated my theme and plugins and wp coreMarch 12, 2015 at 19:45 #49900sharmstrModeratorI see plenty of activity.
For the other issues, its because your on wpengine. This will fix it https://archived.seventhqueen.com/forums/topic/attachment-and-post-buttons-for-whats-new-posts-on-groups-were-hidden#post-32642

March 12, 2015 at 19:52 #49903colleenm31ParticipantIt looks like it is showing only registered members and friendship updates, but no posts or topic threads, and the status update does not work nor does the drop down filter menu..
March 12, 2015 at 19:55 #49905sharmstrModeratorAgain, the link I gave you has the fix for that.

March 12, 2015 at 19:56 #49906sharmstrModeratorTo be more clear. You wont have people updates because no one can update 🙂
I do see posts activity in your activity feed.

March 12, 2015 at 20:12 #49916colleenm31ParticipantIt’s showing up when not logged in, but when I log in that’s when I get the error. Which is a problem because my users will only be going to the page when they are logged in.
That css worked thanks. But users can still updates under “my account”, it just wasn’t allowing it on the activity page so yes there are updates not showing. And also the drop down menu to allow posts and topics to show as well and filter based on friends does not work.
And when I am logged in and I go to myaccount>activity I am getting the same error, when before it had a stream of my posts and personal updates.
I want the activity page to show not only updates but posts as well. and I want it to work when the user is logged in.March 12, 2015 at 20:15 #49920sharmstrModeratorcss? the jquery is broken because it doesnt load on wpengine correctly. did you add all of the jquery scripts in your functions.php file as shown in this topic: https://archived.seventhqueen.com/forums/topic/attachment-and-post-buttons-for-whats-new-posts-on-groups-were-hidden#post-32642
Once you get the jquery working, then if its still an issue, we can focus on the other things.

March 12, 2015 at 20:17 #49921sharmstrModeratorI just looked at your page source and can see that you didnt add those scripts. Please do that first.

March 12, 2015 at 20:39 #49937colleenm31ParticipantI see it working when not logged in, so that’s a start. The one I really wanted to see were the posts, but they are still not showing up, could this be because all my forums are marked as private?
March 12, 2015 at 20:40 #49938sharmstrModeratorI’m not seeing any error. I see activity in both places.

March 12, 2015 at 20:42 #49940sharmstrModeratorKleo doesnt handle any of that bbpress/buddypress interaction. Maybe this helps? https://buddypress.org/support/topic/bbpress-forum-posts-not-appearing-in-activity-stream/

March 12, 2015 at 20:43 #49941colleenm31ParticipantIt is working for other logged in users, just not for the administrator role. I have two admins and it doesn’t show for either.
March 12, 2015 at 20:50 #49944colleenm31Participantok I’ll try that. Thanks so much for your help, I super appreciate it! I never would have figured that out on my own.
Separate question, but is it possible with kleo and buddypress to hide all elements of the site except the home page from nonlogged in users? I found a few plugins for a private community, etc. but none that had been updated recently and would be compatible with current versions of wp/bpres/kleo. Is there one you would recommend, or is this even possible to do? I feel like maybe I overlooked a solution somewhere.
Thanks again!March 12, 2015 at 21:10 #49947sharmstrModeratorI use this https://github.com/Darrenmeehan/private_community_for_bp_lite. Most are using Paid Memberships Pro and creating a free membership.

March 12, 2015 at 21:31 #49951colleenm31ParticipantThanks I was condiering that…my concern is that it hasn’t been tested wih current versions of bpress or wp-
Requires at least: WordPress 3.2.1 BuddyPress 1.5.1
Tested up to: WordPress 3.6 beta3 BuddyPress 1.8 beta1
License: GNU/GPL 2have you used this with wp 4.1 and buddypress 2.2.1? or wpengine?
March 12, 2015 at 22:09 #49956sharmstrModeratorYes Yes and No. I’m on siteground.

ColleenMarch 16, 2015 at 16:48 #50283colleenm31ParticipantSharmstr, Maybe you can shed some light on this! I have been in communication with wpengine all weekend and they can’t seem to help me find a solution, and have informed me this is a theme issue. When I added the suggested code to functions.php my site activity filters started working. Yay! But a new problem arose.
By doing so now every status update posts twice. (I attached a screenshot so you could see) Also some of my users can’t post urls in their updates, and when they try to post it they get two of the same error message. I have deleted this extra code and no longer get the duplicate status update posts, but of course now my filters and dropdown menu on the site activity page no longer work.
Hopefully this extra information will help you identify the problem so I can get closer to a solution.
I would really like to get this working asap any insight or help would be much appreciated!Attachments:

March 16, 2015 at 17:34 #50289colleenm31ParticipantSure. Is it not recommended to host kleo with wpengine since others are having a similar issue? Is there an ideal host platform for the theme?
March 16, 2015 at 17:56 #50295sharmstrModeratorI’m not saying that. What I’m saying is that others have tried other themes with wpengine and buddypress and had the same issue. They got nowhere with wpengine so I found a way to make it work. Once you verify that you have the problem with standard WP themes, turn kleo back on and give me access.

March 16, 2015 at 18:28 #50300sharmstrModeratorGot it. I’m trying to look at it now, but credentials aren’t working.
But you should go back to wpengine a prove to them its not theme related. There are numerous people here that have already told them that. But they need to get their act together.

March 16, 2015 at 18:45 #50302colleenm31ParticipantI just reset the password, so it should be working now, sorry about that. I’ll follow up with wpengine again.
I only ask if there is a better host for kleo than wpengine because I already had to switch from another host that was way too slow, so I’d really like to be with a host company that gives me some confidence that my sites will work consistently.March 16, 2015 at 19:00 #50304sharmstrModeratorI’ve been happy with siteground.
Will let you know what I find out with your site.

March 16, 2015 at 19:37 #50323colleenm31ParticipantI see that it’s only once for you, but twice for me. Another user from this same IP address gets an error every time she tries to post from either page. It doesn’t make sense that it would be so inconsistent for each user. :/
March 16, 2015 at 19:38 #50324sharmstrModeratorCan we disable cdn for a bit while testing this?

March 16, 2015 at 20:00 #50332sharmstrModeratorI think wpengine is working on it as well or something. Earlier the required files weren’t being loaded at all. Then I added my function and for some reason two sets of files were being loaded. I removed my function and now only one set of files are being loaded, but they arent working.
Even though cdn is turned off, its still loading from the cdn server. I’ve flushed the cache on your side and in my browser.

March 16, 2015 at 20:55 #50337colleenm31ParticipantThat’s possible. I messaged them earlier, but haven’t heard any updates. They’re not always the quickest to respond. I can follow up when I hear back from them and know more.
March 19, 2015 at 20:02 #50859colleenm31ParticipantSo I found a partial solution to my problems by unchecking the “automatically update activity” in buddypress settings. I found this solution here:
https://buddypress.org/support/topic/buddypress-js-not-loading/
This seemed to fix 90% of my issues without needing to add the extra code to my child theme’s functions.php
You would think WPengine would be aware of this problem and be prepared with some viable solutions, yet their responses make it seem like they are oblivious. I do still get the “Sorry there was no activity found” error when I click on “topics” in the scroll down filter, but everything else about the filter options on the activity page seems to be working. Also, is it even possible to posts updates with url’s in it? That’s one issue I am having and I feel like it may be something simple that I disallowed somewhere and just need to uncheck…
