Add text to ‘Search Field’

Using the KLEO Pinterest theme. In the middle of the page there is a ‘search’ box. Is it possible to add slight transparent text into that search box to give the user and idea of what to use it for. This would be text that is replaced as soon as the user actually types in the field.
