ParticipantHi There,
I have enabled Child Theme many times and every time it messess up the website. Not only that. I am trying to enable the “Advanced Profile Search” option by interest, language and country etc. That does not work when I go by the SeventhQueen Advanced Tweaks instructions on your website.
Please tell me whether I have to have the child theme on all the time or not. This just does not work.
Also very important – can I add the code from members-loop.php to core files not to child theme ? (I know in case of updates that would ovverride file but I don’t care at this stage unless you can help me with this issue and make child theme work)

When you add the blank KLEO Child theme via WP Admin > Appearance > KLEO Welcome > Tab: ‘3. Theme Addons’ do you experience the same issues? If so, what specifically happens? It shouldn’t cause any errors.
If you wish to make changes to the styling and/or content of theme in an update safe way you should definitely have the KLEO Child theme installed and active.
You can of course make the changes directly to the main KLEO files but as you say you will lose these changes on every update.

Thanks for sending those details but as you’re using multisite I will need to be a super admin account to access plugins etc. Currently I only have access to that particular site and therefore cannot look into other causes from outside this install. Please update the role for the account.

I am currently working on your site looking into the issue. I attempted to deactivate, delete and reinstall BuddyPress (standard troubleshooting procedure) to check for any corrupt files or failed upgrade, when I did so your site threw an Error 500. This means there is a plugin that is not checking if BuddyPress is active or not. I have connected via SFTP and I am manually removing and upgrading BuddyPress. This is taking a little while due to the limit on the server but your site should be back up soon.

That sounds like a great Sunday! Have you been watching the World Cup final?
In the process of getting rid of the Error 500 I had to rename your plugins folder. By doing so it deactivated all plugins for the site. I have enabled BuddyPress, K Elements and Paid Memberships Pro again for you and your site is live. I do not know what other plugins you had activated so you will need to reactivate any that you need.
I checked your KLEO Child theme and you had misplaced the file you were trying to override. I have corrected the location for you but renamed the primary folder as there are errors in the custom members-loop.php file.
Through testing it looks like there is an issue with KLEO on your setup as there are many display errors. I suspect this is related to K Elements and multisite but I cannot be 100% certain. I am therefore going to refer this ticket to one of our developers for more insight into potential causes.
I think it is important to resolve the underlying issue you’re experiencing before customizing any further but once this issue has been addressed we can add the custom code to the members-loop.php file for you and get that working.
Someone from the development team will be in touch with you as soon as they can, Monday to Friday, East European Time.

The whole site is in DEV mode so don’t worry about plugins. I appreciate all that you did. I can imagine that multisite is causing this but on the other hand why should it ?
It would be great to have the members-loop working as I have a very specific plan for this site. Also as we have discussed any other modifications will have to be done in a child theme.
Perhaps there is a permissions error I do not know. I will await further instructions from your people and hold my horses with regards to development. I am going to chill today.
No I don’t follow football at all. I do have better things to do 🙂

I had completed my profile with Interest Ufology then i had made a search and all users had been displayed like the search not works at all.. then i had activated Kleo parent and the results was the same so child/parent theme makes no difference for that.
Tried to see how it behaves with default wp theme and cannot see it, and cannot install that at all, can you please install from wp super admin dashboard or allow me to can install it and test ?
Let me know, it’s essential to see if it works using default wp theme

Thank you for looking at the page.
The issues with Child theme are not only the search. I do not know why advanced search does not work but I thought in order for it to work it must have the members-loop.php installed (Theme recommendations) – so I took it as an error of the theme.
The main error was that the Child theme does not take any information from the main theme and I have to upload new logo, css etc. Is that the case normally ?
There was an issue with Child Theme not displaying properly (everything was all over the place) but it appears to be better.
With regards to themes you need to access “My sites” -> “Network Admin” -> “Themes”. Then you can do “Network Activate”.
Let me know how you get on and let me know whether Child Theme needs to be configures again fresh (upload logo, paste CSS etc.)
If you can get the search working that will be super.

ParticipantI have an update with regards to search plugin.
When I apply search initially nothing happens.
When I click on “All members” it works and filters the data. Do you have any idea why that is ? Maybe wrong php code ?

ParticipantI have found that Paid Memberships Pro plugin is interfering. I will switch that off. It works without it. I was not able to test it more tonight as I need to go to bed.
Are you able to install the members-loop.php for me ? That should close this subject.
Also please tell me whether I need to upload all CSS from Parent theme and logo and all the settings or the child theme should do it automatically?
Trying to understand whether CHild-theme inherits from parent theme or it is a separate thing.

The theme settings from parent and child are separated, example : if you have child theme activated and you have made your theme adjustments using the child theme, when you activate the parent theme the theme options remain in child theme to can have that in both variants you should import from child theme to parent theme the theme settings that can be imported/exported from wp-admin -> theme options -> import/export.
So doing that from above, it’s no need to change them manually from parent to child or vice-verse, the json import/export contains all.
So having default members-loop.php as in parent you can simply remove it from child or rename it from members-loop.php to members-loop-backup.php then will be used the file from parent. OR you can copy again the members-loop.php from parent (wp-content/themes/kleo/buddypress/members/members-loop.php ) to child wp-content/themes/kleo-child/buddypress/members/members-loop.php ) then you can adapt the file as you need.
So pmpro it’s fully compatible with our theme and the issue isn’t the plugin, as how you said it can be the memebrs-loop.php or some php file from parent.

I just wanted to make something straight i.e. I said that when plugin is on the search results do not appear. When plugin is off then the search results appear.
This happens on your theme and other themes so as I say the plugin is the issue.
