Hi how can I have date of birth with date selector in signup & display label age in user profile.
*Long version*
I am aware users -> profile fields show in signup as well as profile, so when I had age in profile field with custom dropdown (I filled in 18…75 as options user could select) it showed as expected in signup & profile but search by age stopped working. Age field in swd -> buddypress was selected. I don’t want to have label Age and type input box or label age and type as dd mm yyyy selector.
On selecting age range field as date of birth with date selector and checking show age instead of birthdate in swd -> buddypress register form shows date of birth (date selector), search by age works (users have to re-edit their profiles and set their age again) but Now in user profile it shows for ex Date of birth: 31 which is weird.
I am stuck in this loop, changing age label from settings toggles the search age label not the profile one. Help me with a better way out.

So after having a look I think using BuddyPress Xprofile Custom Fields Type https://wordpress.org/plugins/buddypress-xprofile-custom-fields-type/ might solve your issue. If you installed this plugin you could change your field type from ‘Date Selector’ to ‘Birthdate Selector’. It will show two options below which are ‘Show age instead of birthdate’ and ‘minimum age’ if you check the first option it will work like so:
– User registers and will be asked for date of birth
– User’s profile will show age only
– If user updates the field they’ll be asked for date of birthThis should play nicely with SweetDate, if you have issue with it, let me know.
You should keep the field and the name of the field the same this should convert any date data you already have. As always, make a backup of your database and content before installing new plugins.

Hi Kieran I tried, the birthdate selector comes, the first field is checked show age. But the created corresponding profile shows still as Date of birth 1990-01-08 00:00:00 The plugin is installed could you take a look. The profile I created in username: rick and name: rick martin. It shows up in age search (age 27)
Please also notice kieran for same profile it is disregarding an pre-filled dropdown field (highest education) that was set as default value from users- > profile fields.

I have looked into this for you and I cannot seem to find a cause so I am going to ask one of our developers, @Radu, to look at this for you. They’ll be in touch as soon (mon – fri).
In the meantime please try disabling all plugins other than those related to SweetDate including BuddyPress and XProfile fields plugin to see if the issue is related to a plugin.

Hi Kieran I tried & I hope u also tried, the Problem still exists. Next to Profile image if any other tab than profile is selected it displays Date of birth 37. For example if I select activity tab from sub menu the dob text comes up. When I switch to profile sub menu the age text shows. This is a little urgent & i am stuck with it, help.

Fixed please check.
In all mentionated locations now it’s displayed Date of birth
From profile fields -> date of birth i’ve delete all those placeholder.
And from the theme options -> BuddyPress -> marked fields to default options

Ok reverted back, I’ve understood the opposite, sorry.
Displayed everywhere age excepting the register page where a date picker it’s shown, it’s not enough to change the date of birth to age and there to be displayed a date picker, you should create a new field named age… to can get rid of the date of birth.
So an age field should have a single input, not three(date picker)

If you navigate to the website now, the home search previously had age from X – Y after your changes says date of birth. The horizontal search on members page; same thing. My problem clearly was the Me section right besides the profile photo showing value of Age & label of Date of birth; It’s still there. I think you misunderstood my problem statement.

It’s as you need right now, I’ve renamed the Date of Birth field to age and from the labels I’ve chosen Date Of birth on the registration page.
