    Hello,

    Hope you are well.

I was wondering whether you thought it is worth having the Akismet plugin running on the KLEO theme?

Or is there a better alternative or is something like this not needed?

Look forward to hear your thoughts.

    Thanks Laura. 🙂
My community has settings that you can not post comment unless you are a registered member. Do you think a spam plugin will still be worth while, I guess it will help with spam login attempts?

    Hi,

Akismet works on comments through WordPress and activity updates / replies through BuddyPress and therefore will not stop spam or malicious login attempts.

If you’re not manually approving each and every signup then it is possible to have spam updates and replies appear in your BuddyPress feed – Akismet would be a viable option to halt some or all of this.

    Thanks,

    Kieran

Thanks Kieran, what would be the best process to manually approve new users.

    I am using PM Pro.

I have New User Approve plugin from the older version of the website should I continue with that or is there something better that comes with theme.

    Hi,

If that plugin works for you – you can still use it if you wish. There are alternatives which include the following

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/bp-registration-options/
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/eonet-manual-user-approve/

Both of the above are specific to BuddyPress. Manipulating the core functionality of WordPress or BuddyPress is within the scope of a plugin and not a theme therefore we do not include functions like this within the theme.

    Thanks,

    Kieran
