I have a request to be able to post to two seperate blogs, one for strictly news and the other being a podcast weekly post, I do not want to use categories for this, I need the ability to post to another page, is this possible? if so please let me know what I need to do. Thank you.
December 11, 2014 at 19:44 #38661sharmstrModeratorSounds like you’re looking to add a custom post type. I’ve been working a lot with the Types plugin that allows you to do some pretty cool stuff. https://wordpress.org/plugins/types/

December 11, 2014 at 23:06 #38677lovewpParticipant@sharmstr I installed the plugin, it’s working great, one question, how do I get my new post page to show up in my menu options?
Also how do I add a sidebar?
December 11, 2014 at 23:24 #38680sharmstrModeratorAdmin menu or front page menu? If admin, it should auto display unless you turned it off when you created the CPT. Go into your CPT and look at the Visibility section. If you mean front-end, then add a link and give it a url like http://www.yoursite.com/wp-admin/post-new.php?post_type=yourcptname
The page should auto display a sidebar if you have WP Admin – Theme Options – Layout Settings to use a side bar. If you dont see a sidebar selection when you are creating a new post, the click on screen options in the upper right hand corner and see if there’s an option to enable it. If not, let me know and I’ll figure out how I did it. Its been awhile and I heavily customized it, so I can’t remember what worked out of the box.

December 11, 2014 at 23:47 #38682lovewpParticipant@sharmstr I cannot get a sidebar, I may be doing this incorrectly, I installed the plugin then created a post, I can link directly to the post but I do not get a sidebar. I do not know how to attach these posts to a page, if I could accomplish that I’d have a sidebar, make sense?
December 11, 2014 at 23:58 #38684sharmstrModeratorYou didnt tell me how you have your site set up or how exactly you created the posts so I can only make guesses. I know you are worried about giving out info, but its probably easier if you give me access and I can tell you exactly how to do it. The Kleo team can back me up here and tell you that I’m trustworthy. Heck, I have Kleo running on several sites that they have never seen because they are private 🙂
So, if you respond privately, I’ll see it since I’m a moderator on here.

December 12, 2014 at 00:50 #38693sharmstrModeratorLooks like you’re only using the full page layout on the home page. If that’s the case, the easiest thing to do is switch your default layout to right sidebar and edit your home page to use the full width template. Let me know if that works for you.

December 12, 2014 at 00:58 #38696sharmstrModeratorSidebar = None means you’re not overriding the default sidebar. You can set the page layout in the Page Attributes – Template dropdown.

December 12, 2014 at 01:00 #38697sharmstrModeratorBut I have my default layout set to full and my blog/archive set to side bar and its showing a sidebar on my CPT. So I’m trying to figure out how I did that. I think its because I created a template for that CPT.

December 12, 2014 at 01:11 #38698sharmstrModeratorThat did it. Again, I set your default layout to right side bar, then in your home page, I set the layout to full-width.
