Hello,
I am in the middle of migrating my SweetDate 2.x site to your latest version, SweetDate 3.x. This was a big update with lots of breaking changes, and so lots of things on my development site (where I have performed the upgrade) are needing a significant amount of attention.
My latest issue is with BP Album. It seems you have deprecated its usage in SweetDate 3.x; but the only instructions I can find are to “Please use rtMedia plugin”.
Do you have a clear migration path for how your customers like myself are supposed to convert their site, which is already using BP Album, so that they can now use rtMedia?
I have many registered users on my site, and the ability to upload albums via BP Album was a key premium feature that many users have already paid for and expect to continue.
Since you are removing the BP Album feature altogether from your theme with this latest update, then hopefully you can assist those of us who were using it and help us make the change to rtMedia.
Thank you.

November 9, 2017 at 15:04 #179352RaduModeratorHi,
The bp album it’s deprecated from older version than 3.0 like 2.6 or 2.7 don’t remember exactly.
VERY IMPORTANT NOTE FOR SWEETDATE 2.x users that updates the theme to 3.x: If you have overwritten the template files in the child theme, especially the BuddyPress templates, and after update, the site is broken you will have to re-do the swetedate templates, or you can revert to 2.9.11 look for in main files/WordPress/version 2.9/
If you haven’t overwritten the templates in the child theme but looks wired, just re-save theme options, it should look ok.
For your premium feature for using bp album, you can talk with your developers to use rtMedia instead the bp album.
So we cannot offer support for custom changes.
Cheers

I agree it is an important note for SweetDate users that you have made a lot of breaking changes in your product that will require lots of work for your customers to fix in order to continue using your product.
My question was about how to migrate from BP Album to rtMedia; and your answer was to reiterate the fact that I need to migrate from BP Album to rtMedia.
I am disappointed in this low level of service and in the lack of technical detail you are willing to use when engaging with your customers. You have broken a lot of stuff with your latest code updates, and it is irresponsible not to be communicative on a technical level regarding a migration path to your latest version 3.x.
November 9, 2017 at 17:02 #179370RaduModeratorHi,
Providing technical specific hints or solutions depends how your developers made the changes, i don’t know how your coders works in those. Anyway our support service cannot offer support for custom code changes to our products.
Personally i don’t know a solution or a plugin that makes possible migration of the things from BP Album to rtMedia.
So you can use an old version of Sweetdate theme where you code template changes works as it should. Or you can speak with your developers to re-do the templates to work with Sweetdate 3.0 and also to port bpAlbum to rtMedia.
An old version of the theme can be found in main files -> wordpress -> version 2.9
Cheers

Another problem with the conversation is that I do not have any custom changes regarding the way I am implementing the BP Album feature. SweetDate 2.x provided the ability to use BP Album and also specify which PMPro member levels can access that feature. I was implementing all of this functionality exactly the way your theme provides with no customization.
In SweetDate 3.x, you dropped support for the BP Album feature. Your inability to provide support for me on this ticket is a result of your dropping the feature from your theme and not the result of any other unrelated custom work I might have done on my website.
I was simply asking if you could help a customer like myself understand your reasoning for dropping this support and to help me see a path forward for my client. I assumed that you had given some forethought as to how your changes might affect the people who are using your software. Therefore, I wanted to know if you had any thoughts about how one might migrate existing data from BP Album to rtMedia.
I see that my assumption was wrong. You either didn’t think about your customers having this concern, or you simply don’t care that upgrading your software will cancel out premium features for the people who are paying to be end users of the websites that your theme is activated on.
What I know for sure is that I am not responsible for your decision to drop support for BP Album, and I don’t appreciate your implication that it is not your responsibility just because I may have made one or more unrelated customizations on my website.
You may now close this ticket, I do not require additional response from you on this matter.
