Breadcrumbs not displaying correctly

The breadcrumbs on my website do not display correctly. Instead of “Home > Parent > Child” all pages are displayed as “Home > Child” This is the case for nearly all page types (Posts, Portfolio Items). The only breadcrumbs that seem to display correctly are on my Geo-directory listings. Attached are images of a standard child page, our portfolio and geodirectory page.

I am using the Kleo child theme. It’s worth mentioning that I don’t have the following suggested plugins installed, as they don’t serve a purpose on my website “This theme recommends the following plugins: Essential Grid, Go Pricing, Paid Memberships Pro, SideKick – Interactive Tutorials, Social Articles,  WooCommerce and YITH WooCommerce Wishlist.”

I have reset permalinks several times, cleared my cache etc. I cant seem to find any context for this issue elsewhere. Assistance would be much appreciated.

Hi,

The breadcrumbs are generated depends by your permalink structure

http://upyourfitness.staging.wpengine.com/the-two-minute-tutorial-intermediate-handstands-with-jarvis/

If you will have category in the permalink the breadcrumb will have the category in it..

I’m sorry, I think you misunderstood the nature of my problem.

There are no categories OR parent pages listed in the breadcrumb trail. There is no breadcrumb trail to speak of, all pages and post types are displayed as “Home > Child”. It is not following the permalink structure of any kind. I only experience this issue when using the Kleo theme.

Hi Radu – if I could trouble you, could I verify if we can set portfolio categories as our slug in permalink? That means to have the url for each portfolio item to be yoururl/<portfolio-category>/<portfolio-title>

Hello,

Category in the slug only addressed the parent-child relationship of post categories and single posts.

My portfolio, and all other single pages with a parent-child relationship still don’t display properly in the breadcrumbs.

Like Stefanlim mentioned, the portfolio categories are not appearing the the permalink structure, even after revising the format to “/%category%/%postname%/”

Example in portfolio:
Portfolio: http://upyourfitness.staging.wpengine.com/training/exercise-library/
Single Portfolio Item: http://upyourfitness.staging.wpengine.com/exercise-library/introduction-to-the-false-grip/

Example in standard Parent-Child page:
Parent: http://upyourfitness.staging.wpengine.com/training/
Child: http://upyourfitness.staging.wpengine.com/training/daily-bar/

We will take into consideration the lack of possibility to choose the breadcrumb structure for portfolio, and in future this will be implemented

I’m sorry, but that doesn’t address my issue, or even relate to my problem. If you take a look at the links I provided you with and my replies, I am not looking for a custom structure for portfolio breadcrumbs.

I am looking for ANY kind of breadcrumb structure. The ONLY part of my site that follows the Parent > Child relationship is my Directory and Single Post pages.

Every other single page is listed as Home > Child, there is no observation of permalink structures and the Parent > Child relationships I’ve set between single pages. This problem defeats the purpose of breadcrumbs all together.

This is exclusively an issue related to the Kleo theme, and the KLEO demo page seems to be working properly. Please take a closer look at my problem, it would be very much appreciated.

Hi, from the link you provided: http://upyourfitness.staging.wpengine.com/training/daily-bar the “Training” page appears in the breadcrumb. The breadcrumb structure is generated from the permalink structure you choose in Appearance – Permalinks.

We will do some tests related to the portfolio breadcrumb and see how we can allow categories to show.
