Buddypress Cover Customization

Hi,
I was wondering if it would be possible to have a black square appear automatically on the center of each Buddy Press cover image. I’ve attached an image that shows what the black square would look like. It is located in the center, behind the avatar and field information. Thank you in advance for your help!

If it is to complicated to add the square, perhaps there is a way to change the opacity of the cover image. The reason I am trying to do this is so that the white letters under the avatar are easier to read. Thank you once again!

There’s no square there to turn black. Do a search here. Someone posted some custom css to put a dropshadow on the text so it stood out more.
