Cannot delete pages from menu

I’m completely unable to alter the menu from default. I tried deleting pages from the main menu and it seems ok but when previewing the site they’re still there. I tried deleting the whole menu and it says ‘menu deleted’ but then a half a second later the whole thing returns to default.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the theme and then did it all again and no change. What can I do?
