Carousel controls missing from featured posts

The controls are missing from the carousel for the featured section of the blog. I had to add them to featured-content.php and copy it to child theme.

modified $after_feature to be

COPY CODE

$after_featured = '</ul><div class="carousel-arrow"><a href="#"><i class="icon-angle-left"></i></a><a href="#"><i class="icon-angle-right"></i></a></div></div></div>';
