Change button colors

Hi am looking to have to specific button hovers colors changed.

The first is the blue DevAccount I want the color and the hover color changed.

The second is the private message button. I tried a few things in CSS but had no luck.

Wheir do you put the .main-color #buddypress div.generic-button a:hover {
background-color: red;
}?

Either in quick css located in theme options or in your child themes style.css file.
