Hi there, I’ve been running a buddpress/ bbpress social networking community on my website, and since changing to the kleo theme, we now get a 404 error when we click on a member’s profile picture OR when we click on the profile picture of one of the groups.  We never had this problem before, our previous theme was genesis.

Can you please help us with this?  We want to go launch the new website but this needs to be fixed first.  We’re working in a staging site.  I’m happy to give you user access if that helps?

Oh strange, it should work. Can you please try again with same username Aymaan and password; 3N9cXo9Rw7L7F1bqTho%s(no And thank you for that thought about the group name changing from member-listing It’s like that on the live site at the moment and it’s working fine. Where in the kleo theme might there be a reference to the groups slug?

Or is there an email address I can use to create a user account for you guys and the password will then be emailed to you? But hopefully the one above works this time.

It will work now, you’re right the wp-admin wasn’t accessable with that user role.

Hi Radu, Yes the two tickets are for the same set of issues. I had given my log in details to my developer a while ago and understood they would create a ticket. When I realized they hadn’t I created one myself and let them know it was done already. Sorry about the confusion!

I assume this is connected, and is probably worth mentioning (let me know if I should create a new ticket) .. we’re also getting the 404 page error appear randomly when we click open a topic from a group forum. It’s a hard one to test because of the random nature of it.

On the live site which has been running a buddypress forum for a few years, it’s also member-listing Funny thing is that when I open /member-listing page, it only brings up 3 members, but there’s over 300. But the list of members seems to come up fine in individual groups; http://peacefulparent.staging.wpengine.com/groups/general-forum-for-peaceful-parenting-related-questions-and-discussions/members/

I imagine the change was made in buddypress settings, but I can check that and get back to you.

    Hi,

The bugging procedure in general implies to de-activate all third party plugins and child theme, then making sure the theme + buddy press it’s updated to latest version.

Let me know if you de-activate all third party plugins and child theme you are able to reach the member profile or group.

If yes enable child theme and plugins back one by one while you check if it works until you find the plugin that process the issue.

If still its the same ask your developer from where had changed the slug.

    Let me know

    Cheers

    Hi Radu,

I notice that on live, clicking someone’s profile pic or username brings up a url that looks like this with profile at the end; https://www.peacefulparent.com/member-listing/peacefulparent/profile/ Whereas on the staging site it doesn’t have /profile at the end and brings up 404 error; http://peacefulparent.staging.wpengine.com/member-listing/peacefulparent/

But when I change the url in staging to include /profile at the end, then it DOES bring up that person’s profile; http://peacefulparent.staging.wpengine.com/member-listing/peacefulparent/profile

So we somehow need to tell the system to look at the /name/profile url.

Any insights on why this is happening or how we can fix it?
    Many thanks!

    Hi,

When i click on your provided link i’m seeing the same thing as guest!

This it’s a unusual behaviour, maybe some plugin causes that, did you have tried to switch from our theme to default WP theme to see if encounter the same issue ?

If you encounter the same using other theme it means the issue doesn’t have nothing to do with our product.

    Cheers

    Hi Radu,

It’s a strange thing, as we tried to change the theme before, the profile links worked. But now it doesn’t work with the other themes too. Does your theme compatible with all the buddypress and bbpress extensions?

    Thank you!

That means that has nothing to do with our product, the issue may comes from any snippet added in bp-custom.php file or by some plugin.

Try to revert the members slug to the original one to see if it works as it should.

    Cheers

    Hi Radu,

Can you tell us how to the member slug to the original one? We could give you another staging site credentials if you could do some further investigation on it.

    Thank you!

    Hi,

Not sure how that was changed, to can guide you to revert it.

    The default slug it’s members.

Did you encounter the same issue with default wp theme ?

If the issue stop to happens when you change the theme you can leave the the credentials to check.

    Cheers
