Country field – loading problem

Hi, a have a problem with country field. In users-profile fields-country i have a select box with around 200 country names in my own languge (some rare countries i deleted). City autocomplete with geonames works fine, but when i want to choose country…for 5-7 seconds computer doesnt respond.
For example … new user may think that something happend and will not complete a registration. Close browser and never come back to my website. Is it possible to choose a country quickly?

I see what you mean now… you can set the country field as a text field, not drop down… no delay will occur in this case.
