Customize settings not saving

I have the new BuddyApp 1.1 installed. I’ve been using BuddyApp for a while. Since 1.1 update I’m having problems with the Customizer. 1) the settings do not always save properly, and 2) the settings seem to be changing randomly.

1) Specifically, I was just working to change a hover link color. I got in to Customizer > Styling > Main Section Colors. I then change the Hover Link Color from white to red. I can see in the preview that when I hover over content the text does indeed how have a red hover color. I then Save and Publish. Now when I look at the live site (after clearing cache) the change has not taken effect. As if it did not save. Instead of red hover color, I have the original white.

2) for Random changes. I’m specifically having problems with the top header navigation and the right side navigation (the pull down under the member name). In both cases I have set the background color and text color multiple times. It previews fine and even seems to work for a while. Then it changes. Right now, I go in to the Customizer and the top header icons (notification, messages) show up as designed (white) and the right side menu text so shows up correctly in the Customizer. When I leave the Customizer, both the header icons and the right side menu text now changes color to the background color. I can only see those items when I hover over them. I try to fix in the Customizer, but there it all look fine.

I also get a strange and disturbing error message occasionally when in the Customizer as attached here. “Cheating’ uh? You are not allowed to customize the appearance of this site.”  What does this mean??

Hello, have you tried deactivating some plugins and testing again? Did you also try using the main theme to test?

I can confirm this problem. Customization have no affect and randomly reset. I am hosting on WP Engine and implemented a child theme.
