Disable buddypress and bbpress

I thought that I would need the buddypress and bbpress, but in the end its not nessasary for me. Can I use the theme without these plugins?

I tried to disable bbpress, but Got 404 error on all pages except the frontpage

check permalinks settings, those should be set to default.
