I´ve been browsing through serval forum, including this one but I could not find a solution.
My wordpress installation used to be on a subfolder /blog
now as I moved it to its root folder the buddypress email confirmation doesnt work.I´ve deactivated ALL plugins and
I´ve installed WP MAIL SMTP plugin and I´ve tested it with all 3 Email accounts (gmail, 1und1 and hotmail)
Wit the correct setting, but I always get the same error:– Can not connect to SMTP
This can not be because I´ve entered the wrong data, this has to be something with wordpress.
However Email are being sent from the contact form 7 contact form and comments are also being sent.
So its not the case the no email at all is being sent from wordpress.
This must be buddypress issue
E-mail confirmation simply doesnt go out.
Again, before I moved the theme it the root directory the confirmation email was being sent normally.
Thank you for any suggestions
UPDATE: creating accounts and log in via FACEBOOK is possible
UPDATE 2: I have following emergency solution:
– BP DISABLE ACTIVATION PLUGIN
I´ve redirected to the main pageSo this is an emergency solution for me, I still interested why the email confirmation doesnt work?
April 1, 2014 at 23:39 #14076AbeKeymasterHi, That is simply related to the settings that you have to connect to your email server by SMTP and to send the mail trought it. Seems like the server is not reachable or the user/password/authentication type is wrong. You should contact the owner of the email server to provide you all the required details to connect
