ParticipantI have turned off plug-ins to no avail, but upon switching themes, my thumbnails immediately reappear.
I’m not sure if I am missing a setting somewhere, but I am at a loss to find what is going on. My blog pages will not show thumbnails whatsoever while the Kleo theme is active.

ModeratorIf you’re talking about all of those video posts, you haven’t put the links to videos in Theme General Settings > Media. That will put a small video player next to the excerpt. Otherwise, if you want your featured image, change the post type to standard or image.

ParticipantI’m not sure where this menu is that you are referring to. Not sure how would I put links to every video I intend on using, which would be hundreds that are not hosted on this server (vimeo videos).

ParticipantOk found that menu inside the actual post. Why wouldn’t Kleo be able to generate the information on its own, considering the video link is already there?

ModeratorYou’re using a plugin to add that video, right? With Kleo, you dont need a plugin. All you do is add the link to the options and it will automatically add it to the top of the post.

ParticipantEven after putting link to video, still no thumbnails or player appear, and I tried all three blog types in themes > blog.
I am using a plugin that automatically creates posts from videos on my vimeo account and sets them as video posts. This works perfectly to create featured thumbnails with every other theme I have tried except Kleo. How could I make Kleo work the same way without changing the post type?

ParticipantThe plugin works better, as it does it automatically. And besides, even after adding the link it still doesn’t work.

ModeratorOff the top of my head, you could try copying the /kleo/page-parts/post-content-small.php file to your child theme and remove all switch cases except for the default (last one). That *should* show the featured image regardless of the post format.

ModeratorPersonal question. Are you just a hired developer or are you a trainer? You dont have to answer but I have a workout question. 🙂

ModeratorI’m a developer and an amateur at working out 🙂 Anyhow, been working out for about 6 weeks now. I’ve lost about 25 lbs and 4″ from my waist. Workouts for the first month were cardio but started lifting weights about 2 weeks ago (3 times a week). I find I feel great all day after cardio workouts, but I’m really depressed all day after weight lifting workouts. I changed my diet over the last 2 weeks as well. I’ve added around 300 to 500 calories a day since starting lifting and trying to do a 50% lean protein, 30% carb, 20% fat food ratio. Does the depression make sense? I’ve talked to my friends that work out and they have never experienced this. Any tips or ideas? 🙂
(I’ll delete all of this later)

ParticipantCongrats on your results so far. I will say that is a lot of weight to lose in such a short amount of time, although not uncommon when people make a dramatic lifestyle change.
Regarding the depression, I would think this has more to do with a diet change than it does with weight training. I haven’t heard of weight training associated with depression directly.
Being a fighter and having done many diets and insane amounts of exercise, you can wear your body out if you are over exerting yourself and not giving yourself enough energy. Athletes who have to watch their weight for competition (boxers, wrestlers, MMA, body builders, ballet, gymnastics, etc.) know all to well the effect of improper nutrition and high amount of physical exertion. I have had dreams of eating food during extreme weight cuts (not healthy), and during intense workouts I could sometimes crumble because of fatigue, and perform poorly – which would be depressing.
I am not sure at what level you are pushing yourself, but if you are still losing 4lbs a week, then I would say you are going to hard. Personally, I never like having someone lose more than 2lbs a week, and that in itself is already difficult. The idea is that you are going to maintain this type of lifestyle for life, and not do a “crash diet”, so you have to be in it for the long haul.
Diet wise, that is a lot of protein, and not a lot of carbs. You will need the carbs when you are working out often, just make sure they are the right ones (not refined sugars, sodas, candies, etc.).
Without more information about your background, it would be hard to say for sure though. Gender, weight, height, age, calorie intake, times of day meals are eaten, quantity of calories per meal, amount of time working out daily and type of work out would be some of the things that would help understand your situation.

ModeratorRight. Well, I’m almost 46, female, 5′ 10″. I lost 10 lbs in the first week with little effort beyond cutting out my daily sugar intake (pie, cake, ice cream). I’ve been holding steady at 160 lbs for about 2 weeks now. I was trying to keep my calories under 1200, but now trying to get in around 1500. My workouts feel intense for me, but probably because I didnt work out for years. I’m definitely sore and out of breath when I’m done. I’ve gone from a 36″ waist to about a 32″. I’m happy with that, but now just trying to get rid of the muffin top and some of the residual fat on my arms, neck and thighs. Up until a few years ago, I was always in decent shape and rarely ate deserts. I just let myself go over the last few years. I dont feel like this is a temporary change and even with the recent depression, overall I feel great. I’m also not discouraged by the fact that I havent lost any lbs for the last few weeks. I think I’ve set reasonable expectations and I only see the 1500 calories a day as temporary until I reach my goal, then I’ll adjust to maintain. You might be right about the “crashing”. I’m doing the 50% protein because I’ve read that its the best way to lose fat and build muscle, but perhaps I should try adjusting to see if it helps the mood. Thank you for the advice. Its really helpful.
