Hello,
I am using the bbpress shortcode to define a new page for the forum to appear [bbp-forum-index].
It works fine, except when I need to define the page via “Forum Root Slug” in the Forum Settings page.
When I set that slug to the page that I have the shortcode on, the forum page defaults back to a Sweetdate page with no forum on it. Only if and when the Forum Root Slug is not defined as the correct slug, does the forum appear. And I need to define the proper slug, obviously, so users can click around.
How do I work around this? Thanks!

I’m guessing this has to do with a forum template that is assigned automatically via the SweetDate theme.
I will wait for further updates here.
Thanks!
March 7, 2016 at 17:04 #108988AndreiModeratorHi,
This is actually not related to the theme and it’s something that it’s supposed to happen. If you change the forum archive slug it will override any page or post using that particular slug you’re trying to use.
The only way to do it is to use your custom built page in the menu and also leave the simplified default forum archive page but not make it obvious to the users.

Thanks for the reply. Here is the issue I am running into.
I have the bbpress forum short code properly on a custom page (using Optimize Press). The forum main page appears fine.
However, whenever anyone will visit that main page, see all the forum topics listed and click on any of them, it leads to the forum slug, as defined in the settings.
So, I have, for example, the main custom page appearing properly at my-example.com/boards/ but each link to click through and read the topics in any forum takes them to the forum defined slug in settings, my-example.com/forum/topic-name
And at that point, it reverts back to the main theme page template. Thanks.

Looking forward.

Thanks for the example, what you want to do is doable but is pretty custom and requires some good amount of extra developments, basically you need to make some custom checks and replace the header and footer files only for the pages related to the bbpress plugin.

Thanks!
