Give portfolio item a default template

Hi,

Registered users can post their own portolio items but it just generates and emppy post with the filled out fields from the form. What I would like is that a portfolio item gets a default template like let’s say Gallery with thumbs.

How can achieve this?

I think I double posted on this. But here goes. What I want is that when a registered user post an portfolio item, that the post itself gets the template “gallery with thumb” that comes with your theme, see screenshot below how can I achieve this? I just want all portfolio posts be like the following screenshot.
