Help with Modules and Speed settings

Hi,

Is there any documentation/advice regarding correctly setting up the Modules and Speed section of the Theme Options. I have been searching around but haven´t found any clear advice on how to set some of the options. I want to make sure I don´t set things incorrectly.

Thanks for taking a look Laura. Much appreciated! The second time I do a speed check I get the same results as you but the first time I get slow results (see screenshot). I guess this is down to caching. But the initial visit seems very slow, would you agree? And is there any way to improve this?
Thanks also for setting up the modules and speed section. So, just to check, I don´t need to “combine theme css files” or “combine theme js files”? Can you explain why you have left those two options unchecked please.
Also, does it make any difference to speed if I leave shortcodes (shortcodes settings on modules and speed page) enabled even if I am not using them?

Hello, its normal because the visit is the one that creates the cached files. This speed testers works like that, the second, third test is the real speed 🙂
Your website load was perfect for me too.
I didnt add that because in some X situations combined files might create issues so i only enable it when there is no other option. But as your website is already very fast you do not need it.
Shortcodes can be on even if you dont use them. I would leave it on

Hi again Laura,
Sorry, I need to check again. I am still concerned that the first visit to my site is slow. It is nearly 9 secs load time and most other sites I visit are no way near as slow as this. On the second visit, when the caching takes effect, the speed is fine, in fact very good. But my site is small and I don’t have many users yet so I would like it to be performing faster. Surely 9 secs is a very slow loading time?!
What do you think.

Hello, as i said these checks are usually like this, the first check is always slower. But for real users it may not be like that, for me it didnt happen. Anyway, if you want to boost the speed even more, contact a cdn provider, like maxcdn
