Hello,
I am looking for a way to use an image without it covering the main menu bar on my home page. I have tried editing the image with white space above but when I set it to cover it still fills the whole section and the page names get lost in the image. The only way is to use contain but it still looks off. Is there a simple solution for this?
Thank you,
CatherineJanuary 13, 2014 at 04:20 #9635catwinParticipantI also forgot to mention that I have tried aligning using all the different settings for image on sweetdate/homepage.
Thanks again.
January 13, 2014 at 13:36 #9651SQadminKeymasterHi Catherine, right now you can’t do this from admin but you can edit one file template to achieve this:
1. Activate sweetdate-child theme;
2. Assuming that you have the latest version of sweetdate (2.3.1) edit ../wp-content/themes/sweetdate-child/header.php around lines 222 and 232. Wrap all “just-after-header” content into another div with a custom class “my-bg” like this example: http://d.pr/i/b3yZ*If you don’t have this file copy it from ../wp-content/themes/sweetdate folder.
3. Go to admin – sweetdate/styling options/quick css box and add the folowing line:
COPY CODE.my-bg { background: url(http://localhomeswap.com/beta-site/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/winter-road-3.png) no-repeat; }
In the final it should be like this http://d.pr/i/DX3S

Before I attempt this may I ask if the change will also apply to images if I use the rev slider instead?
Thank you for your patience – I am so new to this. 🙂
January 14, 2014 at 11:46 #9707AbeKeymasterThat should apply also.

Sorry to bother but in updates in wp it says that all my themes are updated but when I go to sweetdate/theme information it is still showing as 2.3. Is there an extra step that I’m missing?
This could be the problem or I may need more baby steps since I can’t find out how to get to here: /wp-content/themes/sweetdate-child/header.php to add your suggestions.
Sincere thanks,
CatherineJanuary 15, 2014 at 14:50 #9758AbeKeymasterThis is because you are using the child theme that is not upgradeable. To be sure you have the right version you can see it in sweetdate/style.css

January 15, 2014 at 15:12 #9761catwinParticipantPS. I know how to do back ups but does it restore everything into the right place if it’s a different child theme?
January 16, 2014 at 20:25 #9823AbeKeymasterHi, Child theme doesn’t get updated, only sweeetdate, the main theme. You shouldn’t be doing changes to main theme files so when you update you won’t loose your changes since they reside in the child theme

I have updated the theme and added the code but had to have someone help me so that the image would show below the top menu. She added a 100px border at the top to .my-bg class but it cuts in the picture. Do you know of a better solution than adding a top border so as to set background image/slideshow to display below the top menu or how to add a background colour to the menu row?
Thanks again!
CatherineJanuary 20, 2014 at 15:58 #9954AbeKeymasterIf you want the slider after the menu and not behind it, just set Transparent header to OFF in Sweetdate – Homepage

June 10, 2014 at 02:08 #19583rweissParticipantI need to revisit this issue.
All of a sudden the background image on the homepage header area is creeping up into the menu.
I tried the my-bg suggestion above, and it didn’t change anything (the example link is no good anymore).
I have resized the image numerous times to try and fit the space, but it just stays as it is.
I can’t seem to find any css that will help on this.
Site is at http://50plusconnects.com | everything is updated to latest version.
June 17, 2014 at 00:18 #19920AbeKeymaster@rweiss I guess now is fine since it looks good. What was the issue?
