How to link username

Hi, I went into Users | Profile Fields and changed Name to Username. I then created a new field and called it Name. I did an edit for Name and changed the default visibility to admin only.

I want to give the users the ability to decide if their names are visible.

How do I link the Username field under profile to the username they use to login?

You can’t link a Buddypress custom field to WordPress username login.
